Forums - Sony - PS3 Super Slim exists, and here it is! Update2: Comparison PS3 vs PS3 Slim vs PS3 Super Slim

Why does it get uglier with every iteration? Love my shiny fat ps3.

Exactly my thoughts :D

Money is not a reason to me. Even if it has to be a cheaper version they don't have to go with less amazing designs.

Here's another comparison from GAF, feel free to use it in the OP:

From this picture the new version doesn't seem so ugly.

You think Sony could get away with no price cut this year. I think the remodeling could potentially increase demand to the highest levels possible, possibly reaching levels where Sony's supply can just barely meet the demand. (Remember how the Xbox 360 S did with no price cut?). Sony could use the demand from the remodeling and then six to twelve months later, that when they drop the price. And of course then, they would be able to drop the price lower than they can this year. They could roll with this strategy to create & mantain momentum. (Similar to their 2009 - 2010 period)

Late 2012: Remodeling, along with small exclusives like Battle Royale & LBP karting, But if they do go for the price cut, they should go for the $199 price, not the $149. The Slim plus the $50 price cut will be impactful enough and Sony needs the money. Besides, they need something for 2013.

Early 2013: Games like God of War, The Last of Us, & Beyond. Just to keep momentum going.

Late 2013: $149 Price cut combined with games like from any developer whom would have had at least two years since their previous game. (There could be Killzone 4, Uncharted 4, InFamous 3, etc.

And of course that would set up for a pretty decent final year in the Ps3's life as the premier Playstation console (2014).

Do you guys think Microsoft will react by releasing an Xbox 360 Slim 2 at E3 2013?

Nah. I really don't think they are going to concentrate that much on xbox 360 after this year. Actually kinda surprised sony is releasing a PS3 superslim.

This could mean no pS4 which could mean I win my bet with Superchunk, again! ^__^

After comparing the first shots of the first redesign with the final product, I'm happy to announce that this is going to look horrible. They had their chance with looks when they released the first redesign, now I'll pass right to judgement even though I'm more likely to be wrong than last time I suppose.

Just look at that. How can it get uglier every time?

Why the hell would you care about the looks ?It's a gaming console ,it's not supposed to be a work of art.As long as you get an upgraded console at a smaller price , there shouldn't be any room for complaints.

I think on thing that a plus design wise is the supposed disc tray, just the other day my FF XII got stuck in my phat PS3 and awhile back my Uncharted 3 got stuck in my current PS3 slim. With this it just seems that you would just need to slide back the tray and grab the disc.

Maybe they could save a few bucks on a cheaper Blu-ray drive and a few dimes here and there. I don't think they changed the CPU/GPU but they certainly got caught in the Thailand flood and the rise in HD prices (which - contrary what some believe - did hit everyone not just the small guy). Sneaking in a HD-less option (if the 16G thingie is true) might be a clever move, though.

If they can decrease the price to $150, I'm getting a PS3.
