One of the greatest games of all-time with Fallout 3.  I can spend endless hours roaming the desert, finding locations, characters and quests.  A masterpiece.

I have just bought the Ultimate Edition.  40$: the main game and all of the dlc's.   Over 100 hours of gaming.  Going to have fun this summer.  Or will I?  This is the Ultimate Edition right?  No bugs left right?  Wrong! 

Fellow gamers, I need help.  I am stuck with an infinite loading screen when I continue my last save.  I kind of found a way around on the web, but it does not work all the time: load a previous save than the last save.

Any advices would be appreciated.  I have cleared the main cache, but I know you can do one will the game is loading, but I don't know how to do it.  Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Slimebeast. I am still going strong in Risen. I would like to finish it before the end of the month in time for the release of the second one on the 31st. I have just begun the second chapter and I am trying to find all the discs needed to open the magical door. Combats are still hard as hell. Do they get any easier sometime?

By cache do you mean the game data? If not try deleting the game data, located in a folder somewhere above where your trophies are. Do not confuse it with saved game data, which is in a different file. You can delete game data and updates from that folder. Do so and reinstall the game and all the updates. If the cause of this problem is from a file corruption on your HDD, this should fix it.

I haven't had this type of problem, but God knows how many problems I've had to deal with. Because of that I've had far less fun than with Fallout 3 and haven't played it for a good year now. Maybe I will try again.

I think I had the same problem on fallout 3. If you have many save data files of New Vegas, try delete some of them. Try to keep between 4 to 6 save data files of New Vegas including the autosave.

I'd suggest doing what chark and finalrpgfantasy suggested, and if that doesn't work, then you're just going to have to most likely start from your previous save before that. Sux but it happens... keep 4-5 save files and save frequently.

Also, another good tip is to not play the game for long durations at a time... keep it at roughly 1-2 hours each play time and then take a break, because I've found that when playing the game for long durations of time (3 or more hours), the loading times gradually get slower and slower, especially if you're frequently traveling in and out of the city of New Vegas itself. I think the most playtime I logged in one sitting was close to 5 hours, and the load times got so long at one point the game got stock in an infinite loop trying to load one of the areas and i had to do a hard reset.

It's a great game once you get around these unfortunate bugs... more side quests and stuff to do than in Fallout 3, and the story has multiple branches and endings that you'll want to try to play through each one, so make sure you keep one or two save files from certain key moments in the main quest... you'll know what they are when you reach them. That's all I'll say without spoiling anything for you.

This is what happens when you have a game with a huge open world, hundreds of quests and a nearly infinite number of ways to complete them.

There's always the latest Final Fantasy games if you want a linear RPG experience with minimal bugs.

When I was playing this, I had to keep Fallout Wiki open in my browser. It details each quest and area really well so that you can avoid the many game-breaking bugs. I'd check out your bug on the site, it might help you get through it.

So an open world broken game isn't okay to criticize because it's an open world?

I have the PS3 version but I haven't played it yet, I hope I don't have any problems like that...
If you haven't tried re-installing the game and/or game data, then I would suggest you do that first.
