Education = Knowledge = Smarts.

But this is not the topic so lets not de-rail.

The US was modern England at one point.

The US was 'created' by Englishmen who knew their rights and attacked by Britain (not England) for defending those rights.

England (excl football team) stopped existing between 1606 and 1706 (union of crowns/union of parliaments). Since then it's been imperial Britain. England doesn't exist and hasn't existed for 400 years. "Little Englanders" didn't want an empire, England wanted everyone to be free.

Britain used English strength to create an empire, the reason why it wasn't as horrible as the fnerch or spanish empire is because it was based on freedom.

So yeah, the US at one point was the pinnacle of England/Englishness. That's why 13 colonies became a hyperpower.

To think that the US became the US because of a tax on tea and in 200+ years you've thown it all away is saddening to me.

Monarchy

Every country is a monarchy. Don't pretend you're not just because you elect your Monarch every 4 years. Neither Elizabeth II or her father were 'born to be king'. "Subjects" have more power than "citizens" give them credit for.

I am making this post to celebrate the 4th of July.  Here are a few reasons why England is better than USA.

1) The British Pound is more valuable than our shitty dollar

2) Your multi-party system is far superior than our stupid two-party system

3) Your use of the English language is far superior (sound smarter (except people near the border of Scotland, I can't understand you guys...))

4) You kicked out most of your religious nuts to our country thus saving yourselves from the likes of the Puritans and the eventual evangelical Christians that were to come

5) "No taxation without representation" was the major cry for our split but it turns out that under USA rule about the same thing is happening.  Here is a good example of how well we spend our taxpayers money... In Texas they use taxpayer money to build a road then they turn it into a toll road (double taxation).  They then sell the toll road to a private company (usually foreign).

6) You are less hated around the world than us (usually most people are suffice to burn just the American flag)

7) You don't try and act like the world police force

I will list a few more later..  However, I believe that the USA would be a far better place if we were still under British rule.  Anyone else feel the same?

I may as well address some of these, even though they've probably been addressed over the last three pages.

1) Yes, but that doesn't mean much. The value has dropped like a rock over the last few years.

2) We have a multiparty system? You mean the right social democrats, the left social democrats and the people who do everything the right social democrats say?

3) This is true for the most part, though there are plenty of people here who can't speak English at all (chavs, for example)

4) We have no separation of church and state. Every so often the Archbishop of Canterbury whines about gay marriage or poverty or something, and everyone ignores him, but he's still there and it's annoying.

5) This happens in every country except the UAE, which has no tax.

6) I'm not really sure why. I think it's because British children aren't brought up in a culture of despising Britain so there's no hatred from within. We happily join in all of your wars and everything, and our government is nearly as corrupt as yours.

7) Yes, we do.

Trust me, this image you have of Britain as a paradise of equality and learning is inaccurate. It's more similar to the USA than any other country in the world, which makes it a fairly nice place to live, but also means that it has many problems of its own.

The dollar is worth less than the pound?

The dollar used to be 5:1 v the £ now it's 1.6:1. Near parity in comparison.

I don't know why the strength of Unbacked Sovereign Debt(USD) v Government Backed Paper (GBP) is so important to you.

"Elect" and "monarch" don't go together. Look up the meaning of the word "monarchy".

And for the record, quite a few countries do not have a singular head of state with most of the power.

I am so glad you all agree football is "more fun," than soccer!!!

I feel I should point out that soccer is the only popular sport that can legitimately justify itself being called "football". Gridiron, on the other hand, involves the feet and ball making contact only very rarely, comparatively speaking.

Personally, I'm big on not using the word "football" for any of them, though, for two reasons. One, it becomes unclear unless you add qualifiers that just make it longer than the real names ("American Football" vs "Gridiron"). Two, I'm not a fan of any of those sports, really (if push came to shove, I'd play soccer over the others, though).

Fun fact: "Soccer" is actually used in England, too. Indeed, it comes from the phrase "Association Football", which is the full name for the sport.

Hey soemone else who knows that.  I get sick of freaking explaining that to people.

The reason though why "American Football" can legiatmitly be called Football is because it came from Rugby.

Whose full name is Rugby Football.

Football is really more of a Genus then a species.   There used to be a bunch of "football" games.

Football winning out in soccer likely because it was the most popular sport and football is a lot easier to say in another language then assosiation or even soccer.

The world disagrees. By world, I mean the entire world, not just the US and Canada/Japan as is defined in other sports ;p

American football, is just rugby  with padding and played a lot slower.
