Forums - Nintendo - No price, no date: Iwata facepalms stock journalists

In Nintendo's 72nd shareholder meeting, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata expressed his grief over the stock media, and how analysts portayed Nintendo as lacking confidence in its product, that being the reason for the unannounced price and release date. I'll let you read it for yourselves:

" Among some news reports, a report I was particularly disappointed with was that the announcement of the launch date and the price (of the Wii U) was postponed. We made a statement in public before E3 that we would announce neither the launch date nor the price (of the Wii U) at E3. It’s nothing new at all because, when we introduced the Wii, the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo 3DS, we didn’t announce the launch date or the price at the E3 shows, either. Nevertheless, what was reported in the media was that, in the context, postponement of the announcement regarding the launch date and the price was due to lack of confidence. This type of news somehow affects consumers’ minds and that would have had an impact on the share price as a result."

Iwata is completely right here. Gaming Journalism Journalism is completely shit nowadays.

their shares went up 2% today. A very healthy bump

A time where you'd like to say "told you so", but not me. Nah, I fell prey to that false accusation.

I really don't see the importance of announcing the price and release date on E3. It's not like those who care about such events won't be the first to find out anyway. And the masses won't care about any of the two until the advertisements start airing.

I wonder when they will release the price and launch if it is supposed to launch in fall that is only a few months. I am hoping for a good price on the controllers as well.

It's been clear ever since Nintendo's stock boosted-then-dropped over that Pokemon TCG game on iOS that investment media has a very clear agenda here, which is sad.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Iwata, welcome to the world of hate for you.
Everything you say will be bad and negative and stock will fall and Nintendo will crush.

Iwata seems to know what he's doing. He has a very successful company after all.

The only thing I would like to know is Why Nintendo does some of the things that it does
