If they can add PSOne classics compatibility via a firmware, why the hell that can not be done for PSP games???

dafuq?  vita does play psp games.

But not all.

not via the psn store but the data transfer utility will pass them along just fine.  i can say that very matter of fact because i'm playing "unsupported" games like VC2 and LBP ect.

So the PSP converts the UMD games to software and transfers them to the Vita's memory?

Yeah, I'd buy a PS1 to play PS1 games! Or just use my PS2 or PS3 instead.

(I'd have to as well, my PS1 (from 1997) only plays games upside down and it still screws up during CGI scenes a lot.)

I could never get into PS1 games on a portable. I tried with the PSP, but I'd rather play on a tv.

Agreed. And PS3's the best PS1 player because you don't need a memory card because of the HDD.

Even then, it still doesn't support every digital PSN title.  There's some that are officially supported and you can buy them from the PSN on the Vita.  Then there's the Un-officially supported titles that you can buy from your PS3 and then port to your PSV.  Then there are titles that aren't supported at all in any way, shape, or form.  You can buy them on your PS3 and the Vita still won't recognize them.  I posted a list in a couple of threads a few weeks ago.

I don't know about that. Having the "no memory cards" is nice, but I still prefer playing all my disc based PS1 games on my PS2. I do still have all my old PS1 memory cards so that's not a problem.

Then again I also play them on my old 29" Sony Wega Trinitron CRT TV (This over 100lbs (49kg) monster! http://www.sony.jp/CorporateCruise/Press/200106/01-0627/ ), so they look better than trying to play them on my Panny Plasma with the PS3.

nice avatar btw!

Yeah, but that is because you have a PS3 (me too).  But for those you dont have a PS3 that is not possible. And all PSP game can NOT be played on VITA via data transfer

I Think they should try to take the same approach, and add unviersal PSP compatibility via a firmware update instead of adding it via updates to each game via PSstore.

Even though data transfer method is not flawless it makes you wonder why those games that are playable via that method are not available on the store for download :S

PS1 graphics look like utter crap on a TV, that is why I prefer to play them on the PSP.

This.  I have probably 100 disc based PS1 games that I will NEVER play again because they look horrible on my TV.  I've even re-purchased many of them just for the PSP because they look tolerable on that system.  I can't wait to play them on the Vita when we get the opportunity.
