i would buy a Vita just to play PS1 games

Yeah, I'd buy a PS1 to play PS1 games! Or just use my PS2 or PS3 instead.

(I'd have to as well, my PS1 (from 1997) only plays games upside down and it still screws up during CGI scenes a lot.)

I could never get into PS1 games on a portable. I tried with the PSP, but I'd rather play on a tv.

PS1 graphics look like utter crap on a TV, that is why I prefer to play them on the PSP.

Depends on the game, but generally they look better on CRT tv's. On HDTV's they generally don't look very good. I don't know I've been playing PS1 games on tv's since I got my PS1 way back in 1997, so I'm used to it. I have my SNES, Genesis and Sega Saturn hooked up to the CRT as well. They all look good.

I never could get into PS1 games on the tiny PSP screen, like I said earlier.

I don't want to play FF7 again, just because it's aged so badly. I still have my 1997 launch copy. Something like FF Tactics though looks great.

Yeah, I know that , but I wont have a CRT TV just to play PSone games :S.  I got rid of those TVs years ago and replace them with HDTVs.   Everything looks phenomenal on them with the exception of PS1 games (PS2 games look tolerable); and I have more space for other things considering most CRT tvs are fat.

When I want to play any PS1 game I do it on my PSP.   I could do it on my PC via emulation, but it is not the same experience as being on my couch or bed playing, that is why I would like to be able to play them on the PSVITA :D.

You said that PS1 games look terrible on a TV though, when in fact they don't. When played on a TV they were designed for (everybody had CRT tv's when the PS1 was out!), then they look pretty damn good.

My CRT isn't only used for PS1 games, I also played PS2 games on it as well as SNES/Genesis/Saturn games like I said earlier. CRT is the best unless you get one of those pricey upscale converters. ( http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/ ) I still want to get a Micomsoft Framemeister myself.

When I want to play PS1 games, I play them lying back and looking at them on my nice CRT tv. (Sony Wega CRT TV's were the best! ) The PSP just didn't do it for me and that's one reason why I got rid of mine.

cool stuff, i have ~20-30 classics from psn+. lilo and stitch is going to be epic!

I loved that game when it came out xD

Good news to hear PS1 support is coming, I can't wait to play FF7 on the go :D

I got Street Fighter Alpha, Crash 1, 2, 3, Crash Team Racing, Final Fantasy VII, Grandia, Xenogears, Spyro the Dragon, and Metal Gear Solid waiting to make the leap from my PS3/PSP to the PSV. I'll probably just port a couple of those titles, though. Gotta conserve space.

If they can add PSOne classics compatibility via a firmware, why the hell that can not be done for PSP games???

dafuq?  vita does play psp games.

But not all.

not via the psn store but the data transfer utility will pass them along just fine.  i can say that very matter of fact because i'm playing "unsupported" games like VC2 and LBP ect.

Yeah, but that is because you have a PS3 (me too).  But for those you dont have a PS3 that is not possible. And all PSP game can NOT be played on VITA via data transfer

I Think they should try to take the same approach, and add unviersal PSP compatibility via a firmware update instead of adding it via updates to each game via PSstore.

Even though data transfer method is not flawless it makes you wonder why those games that are playable via that method are not available on the store for download :S

thing is i don't think this has anything to do with firmware.  i think sony is actively postponing psp titles so that they can space them out over several updates and kind of fill in the gaps in the vita-exclusive new release schedule.

Excellent! Now bring ps2 games as well and I'll be a very happy man :)

I think Sony purposely keeps some of these PSP titles from being officially supported to keep people interested in new PSV titles. I have Mod Nation Racers on the PSP (got it for free but never played it--thanks, PSN outage!) but they released MNR: Road Trip. The PSP game could cannibalize the Vita game so I bet they figured it was a smart move to hold it back for a while.

Same goes for the Metal Gear titles or Resistance Retribution.
