Forums - General Discussion - Mafia Round 43 - WipEout

After people play for a number of rounds, you get a sense of whether they're likely to be Mafia or not- I don't think anyone is trying to contest that. I think the issue being raised was whether you could refer back to specific actions that occurred in previous games to help make your point- I say that if you have the memory to refer back to past games/commitment to check them, then that isn't a problem, surely?

I'm going to
Vote: Wiibox

Just because I don't have reads on anyone atm, and I want to make sure that I have a vote on someone

Oh god no! This is less of a gray zone than tells - you can use those if helpful. Brining back specific info from past games is a no-no. Period.

Mafia games are independent from each other.

Yay, I'm not going to have to fake going at Wonk just to get a read this time.

And for everyone interested, leaning town on radish already. Though a vote for Wiibox is equivalent to his standard No Lynch day one policy.

radish, what do you think of what went on with Spurge and I? How about prof's "push" for no lynch? Do you think Noctis joke voted, or is it serious and he then turned to joking after, or something else?

1. Spurge's reaction to your post was really strange (I took it as a joke), but those (j0) who are suggesting that you're both on the mafia team because you're trying to "argue" with eachother are looking way too deeply into it imo. Things that happen at the beginning of the game are always a bit jokey, and I think that Spurge was acting like that just to measure you up.

2. I just find it funny that he didn't see the rule regarding no lynches (although I'll be honest, I missed it too), because he's the sort that would be shouting at me if I were to have done what he did. Regarding the fact that he did want a no lynch  doesn't bother me that much (he obviously didn't believe that everyone would just follow his vote and that we'd have no time for discussion), so I'm going to forget that any of that happened, I think.

3. I think it was a joke vote, but a terrible one. Then again, Noctis always acts scummy- it's impossible to get a decent tell on him

Linkz there is only one way u could logically know that im scum.
and that is due to the fact that you sir are also scum
hos linkz
Vote no lynch
Now u dun lost ur power amigo. Thatll teach u to bus me.

What if I merely illogically know that you're scum?

I am somewhat surprised that only you were punished(prematurely) for discussing a no lynch, rather than whichever team you're on. I guess mafia without a kill would make it obvious you are in fact scum.

I can't say I'm surprised spurge reacted to your hypothetical as if no lynch was an actual option though. Current thinking is he'd be a bit more careful if he was mafia, but that's not necessarily true

you just made me think of something here. With what prof was doing could have hurt whatever team he is on. So why do it, if he was town it could cause us to lose night actions. If mafia it could hurt his team as well, while if he's 3rd party like an SK it could actually have been beneficial.

1) I'd agree that anyone saying spurge and I are "arguing" as scummates is looking too deeply into it,(Or scum themselves) but I'm biased since I know that can't be true. However, spurge slept(or was at least gone for quite a while) and then came back to vote me, so I don't think he's joking.

2) I don't think prof missed it. I believe he was trying to test others, but to what end I don't know.

@Wonk:
That's a good point. I wasn't even thinking about the possibility of a third-party yet, just thinking it could have been very bad for town.

2) I agree with this. Prof clearly knew it was in the rules. If we go by the post I quoted before, at least.

Whatever team he is in, though, it hurts the team. So what's the point in doing it?

1) Are you putting the fault of the spurge and you argument on spurge, then?

What do you mean by fault? I was making a joke at my own expense, which spurge seemed to think was about him. The argument stems because he made a blanket statement that I only do false humor as scum. It's not the fact that it's wrong which is bothersome, but that he doesn't know how I play nearly well enough to even try to say such a thing. And then he accused me of trying to shut him up when I was actively prodding him for discussion.
