Maybe Nintendo is afraid to make a 3DS with another analog stick so the early adapters don't feel screwed.

I'm an early adoptor, I want the XL to have  second stick so games stop getting gimped controls, if it means I have to use my CPP then I don't care, better controls are most important, and with better controls will come more types of games, also important.

Nintendo will just not admit they were wrong including one stick.

but Nintendo is not wrong. Handhelds are different from home consoles and should offer a different xxperience. The real problem is developers making console games for a handheld system. Nintendo limits the controls to push that mindset. When RE is on 3DS it needs to be designed with 3DS in mind not consoles. If a they have to design a peripheral device so MH can be played properly should MH had been on the system to begin with?

Good to see Nintendo supports this line of thinking with its non-console type games like Games like Zelda OoT 3D and Starfox 3D!  That entire argument holds no weight at all, the other 'big' games from Nintendo are Mario Kart and SM3DL which are both console type experiences, coming up is NSMB3DS and Luigi's Mansion 2, both console experiences, oh and Super Smash Bros...again console experience.

All fine for Nintendo who are literally releasing games and gameplay from the 90s, but any third party dev wishing to make a modern game with modern and improved controls is bollocked and either controls or gameplay will suffer for it, or more likely, they just will not bother supporting 3DS with many game types.

this about 90% (dont agree with that the 90s thing) but it baffles me when people say make "portable" games. Who are they to say what should be portable or not?? Nobody. THe best selling portable games for the most part have been games derived from the consoles or genre. GBA was just a SNES port machines. GBC best games were console ports. GB best selling games were spinoffs of console games (sans Pokemon, but thats an RPG). Most popular PSP games were console like. And LOL at MH, the best selling MH games have been on portables, so chew on that for a sec, Xxain

Almost 50/50!? Nintendo fanboys here are unbelievable... Not including a second analog stick is inexcusable, but they are very imaginative to argue in its defense. Of course, they will still defend Nintendo when they inevitably include the second stick in the next redisign.

You are being ridiculous. We defended it for the correct reasons. If Nintendo puts in a second Circle Pad on the next iteration then they are just plain stupid.

Let me first say that even I wish to have a second analog, as well.
With that said, a second analog is in all actuality not necessary. Prime Hunters and Modern Warfare worked fluidly for the DS with a precise control of the stylus. Oddly enough, it is fairly similar to PC's keyboard & mouse combo. Hell, even Goldeneye proved the possibility of traversing the 3D environment with just one analog.

The only downside is this combination of controls can be strenuous for fairly long periods of time, roughly two hours for me.

Gezz... It's not going to alienate anyone, For the people that have the normal 3ds they could just use the attachment or upgrade to the 3ds xl with a circle pad built in. Is it really that hard to comprehend? They could even start packing it in with games that use it as a main control. And just because it's built in to one system doesn't mean it needs to be forced on all games forward. At this point not having a second stick in place in doing more harm that good. Nintendo fans are making way to many excuses for Nintendo. It's just one of the 3ds's mistakes, get over it.

geez another second stick thread.

If you read some of the others, So many people explain why it be a mistake.

I agree this was a Nintendo fuckup at launch. But it is not an easy one to fix as those annoying extra shoulder ZL/ZR buttons on the CPP were used.

The only way to add the extra shoulder buttons would be to thikcken the system.

Then people would complain about it being to thick. Some have already complained at the 3DSisn't as slim as a smart phone. Really? two screen and you want it be be as thick as a smart phone with 10hours of battery life.

Nintendo needs something to justify the revision in 2014.

I'm glad they didn't add it. It's less money I have to pay for something that (so far) I don't need.

People like you think that companies like Nintendo are full of stupid people that make mistakes all the time, especially the very dumb and obvious ones.  Truth is, Nintendo didn't add the 2nd circle pad for some very good reasons, you just are too closed-minded to even imagine what those reasons are, and call them ridiculous or "just excuses."

That would just as well be like me saying that the reason the PS Vita isn't selling well is because it's an inferior machine, and there are no excuses and Sony fanboys are going to defend all of Sony's decisions, no matter what.  I don't believe that, but it's an equivalent in logic.  Some people think that the PS Vita's lack in hardware sales is due to some obvious mistake, such as this "lack of second circle pad."  I think you should think more deeply about how and why businesses make decisions like these.

I don't think Nintendo is trying to bleed us dry by not adding a circle pad and making the CPP for the 3DS XL, but I'd rather not explain myself as it has been said numerous times here and this Naninho guy would just say the same thing over and over again.  This debate will go on forever, as long as people have unwavering support for either side.

@BasilZero Not really. The Circle Pad Pro XL is going to launch sometime after the 3DS XL.

Also, here's a bit from Nintendo's Annual Shareholder's Meeting

■Q: On the possibility of additional 3DS models outside of 3DS XL

Iwata responded that users would be confused if there were too many choices. There's also the concern about mass production efficiency. So, there are no plans in the near future for new models. The 3DS XL was the result of there being great need for a large screen.

since the 3DS is not a console where FPS, TPS and sandbox games are going to be released, or not often enough, the CPP as an add-on remains as the best option.
End of the story, stop complainig
