New innovative ideas for "core" games and less gimmicky garbage please.

And to add to my post, games of all types for gamers of all types and not just self-entitled core/hardcore gamers.

Wow, the hostile reactionism is kind of sickening. Am I allowed to express my opinion without being insulted? All I said is that I wanted a few new core games, you know, the tiny segment of the industry that's being drowned by sequels, casual games and gimmicks (in case you have poor reading comprehension and decide to misinterpret this as a contradiction of my later definition of core gaming I meant innovative, original, core games with no motion/touch/control scheme gimmicks that actually feature new gameplay). I just want a few new innovative gameplay mechanics featured in core games, I never said anything about there needing to be fewer casual games or even fewer sequels. Also, when I think of the damage that gimmicks do to core gaming I think of Killzone 3 which we can all agree would benefit from having the Move sequences dropped (why they decided to end the game with a terrible rail-shooter sequence to appease Move users was disastrous). Having a desire to see more new ideas that appeal to me makes me so much more self-entitled than anybody else in this thread to the point at which you needed to challenge the only thing I asked for from the next gen (new gameplay ideas, you know, the reason why normal people keep playing games)? Next time, think before you type please.

Also, for the record, almost every game beyond Kinect Adventures and Sudoku is a core game, I'm not just referring to a handful of FPS and bloody action games like some fools do.

I personally understand. Is there any gaming experience that features motion controls that you would consider non-gimmicky?

Because as much as I wouldn't want to misread you, as much as I'm personally sick of hearing the word gimmick being associated to motion controls.

I'd have to say Red Steel 2 and No More Heroes are great examples of what I would want to see motion controls used for. That being said, I see the Wii-mote as inaccurate and I cringe at the thought of using it for something like an FPS. The gimmick that gets me the most is actually touch screens. OkamiDen is a chore without an analog stick to control the camera and the DS is awfully picky about my Celestial Brush techniques. Also, it took me over ten minutes to write three letters in Professor Layton because the handwriting to text software is the absolute worst I have ever encountered in my life. Overall, I think these control schemes add little and they've been implemented so poorly in so many games. Point and click adventure games typically work quite well on the DS and hack 'n' slash games work well on the Wii. That being said, they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

Gotcha. I personally liked the use of the pointer in Metroid Prime Corruption, but I admit it can be made even better on the long run.

The two techs of touch and motion are still in their early stages and I can understand the frustration, but to contribute to OP I would love for more innovation to be made in the field for both techs so they are even better in the coming gens.

Especially better control and a funner experiences for things like Swordfighting in SS. I see alot of potential in the tech, and it is still not mature enough to get there, and has been too often tacked to casual experiences. It would be nice to see it used in more traditional games.
