I did reply to your argument.  You said Mario is the most generic game and listed reasons why you think so, and I countered it by saying you were wrong on those points.  The game changed fundamentally in all those reiterations throughout those years, and one of the only things that link them together is either the genre or the fact that Mario is in it.

firstly this is all a mater of opinion i should mention this. secondly in terms of story? no its simply the same, how is it defferent?people here been saying it doesnt have any story defending mario that way, i guess it proves my point.  the worlds are different and it would be stupid to call mario generic in that way, really stupid. but going on to charecters? come on not even nintendo can state that they arenet generic. art style, the graphics are different from one another but you can spot a mario game directly when looking at a screen even if you never played it before, the models and texutres have the same direction as the games before it, understand the worlds are vastly different and look extremely different but the direction of the art is still the same. as for sound its still the same you cant argue about that. also story telling and story are VERY DIFFERENT you might have an awesome story but tell it in a crappy way and you might have a crappy story but tell it in an awesome way and make it sound good. mario has both bad story telling and a bad story

Paper Mario, Mario RPG, Luigi's Mansion (which doesn't deserve to be clumped as a Mario game), Mario Galaxy, Super Mario World (barely a story, but still), Yoshi Story, and more.

OT: Personally, I just find Mario completely uninteresting, and I can't see why anyone over the age of 12 doesn't feel the same

You can't say that and then have a pic of Little Big Planet in your sig or Domo in your avatar, it's completely contradictory.

Why? LBP appeals to mature gamers as much as children IMO, everyone is creative. And I don't find the sackboy character interesting, it's the game that I think is awesome. As for Domo... it's just something I liked when I was little, and someone got me the poster so... yeah, not much more explanation needed.

You knocked Mario games because you don't find Mario interesting.  You also don't find Sackboy interesting, but find the game awesome.  Remind me how exactly LittleBigPlanet somehow has that much superior gaming than what Mario is in, since that seems to be youar argument.  Difference between a Mario game, as a platformer and LBP, is the draw of Mario platformers (and other games) are professionally created levels.  The appeal of LBP is levels designed by fans.  I say this being a big fan of LBP, and even Sackboy.  I tip a hat to Mario, because Nintendo, in my view, uses Mario in good games.

I dont hate mario but I dont find him appealing

People dont hate Mario, Sony and Msoft fanboys hate Mario because it gets amazing ratings and lots of sales...more than they beloved "mature" franchises...its called envy

read what i wrote, has nothing to do with what you said.

Was Significant replying to you, or myself (who started the thread)?  What Significant wrote fits fully with what I wrote.

i would say he was talking about people who "hate" mario and own ps3/360 so i as one of them said why at least some like me have other reasons that they donÄt want to see so much of mario. sure i should have said "read what i wrote, for some it has nothing to do with what you said". no clue who he was replying to but it wasn't significant for my post to him.

That's wholly up to the person, it's pointless to argue it.

A number of those are debatable, based on preferences.  I don't think Piccross or Wrecking Crew stinks.  And Super Mario Bros. 2 isn't in keeping with other Mario platformers, and was another game, but was it bad?

I can't get my head around the idea that Mario doesn't appeal to a wide demographic but LBP does. They have practically identical appeal, the only difference between the two is that LBP obviously has a massively inferior fanbase.

You're acting like Mario has a broken story, when the games I listed clearly do not.
