With these numbers one can't deny the importance of Japan in this whole industry. Can't really believe some people refuse to believe that.

Which also proves that success comes with consistency.

I never expected Gravity Rush to be a big system seller, its more of that niche title like Pikmen were the ones who play it love it to pieces, but because of the type of game it is, it won't appeal to a lot of people. Although I thought the game had a decent enough launch :)
Well, Vita was above 80k, but I predicted above 85k. Next week it'll back to 60k, though. Needs more long-selling titles.

I wasn't expecting it to move a million Vitas, but I was hoping it would be closer to 85-90k.

3DS - Ok numbers. Bad considering it is the successor to the DS.
PS3 - Ok numbers. Been #1 each week this year. Congratz.
360 - ~90k again. This is bad. A price is really long overdue.
PSvita - Wow! Nice boost! Gravity Rush + Metal Gear + Persona 4 = HUGE Sales boost. All Vita needs is games. A price cut is just a cowards way out. If people aren't buying a Vita at $250, it means they don't see value in it. Soy needs to make them see value in it.
Wii - Lowest sales of the year. Ouch. Wii U can't come soon enough.
PSP - Europe alone is keeping this thing alive. Why is it still selling so much over there?
DS - DS > Vita in America.............yeah..Ouch. The DS is really holding back 3DS sales.....3DS could be selling SO much more.
Man the 360 and Wii are doing horrible. I wonder when the 360 will go under 75k and the Wii below 40k.

Japan is important, but what people have denied is whether CRITICAL for your console to succeed in Japan. 360 proved that it is not- Japan nearly ignored it, and it's still going to be a much bigger success than the PS3*.
*Before a bunch of people jump on me for this statement - success is about making money, and while the PS3's best case scenario for it's entire run is breaking even, the 360 is a very profitable venture.

Well, while you may be right about it needing longer selling titles, this is just the launch week for those 3 titles so we don't really know how long they'll sell for (well except for Gravity Rush in Japan...) |
Yes, but I don't see any of them sustaining sales for long. I mean, Persona will likely drop to 45-60k next week and the Vita to 15-25k in Japan, and the other areas will have Vita just above 20k also, so 60k next week seems likely. Don't forget it's Pokemon week next week.
Gravity Rush will likely fizzle out pretty quickly, sadly. All Vita needs are the games; namely something like Little Big Planet or Gran Turismo, which sell for a long time. The 3DS got Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, and it's doing much better.
