Woah, a system seller for PSV. Haven't seen much of that in Japan.

Persona 4 Golden isnt really considered a system seller imo...I mean it would of been if it wasnt a port and a original game but its not.

Besides Tales of Innocence R is really a remake/enhanced port of Tales of Innocence for the NDS and is actually less popular than most of the other tales series or at least from what I heard.

Your opinion is irrelevant. Persona 4 Golden IS A SYSTEM SELLER. It Boosted the Vita by 20k(more if you count how it neglected the decline from the Gundam boost the previous week.

Gee, calm down. Unit 13 boosted Vita by 18 units. Can it be considered a system seller too then?

he said imo, it's not like the concept of system seller is written in the constitution.

System Seller = A game that sells systems.

Persona 4 The Golden boosted the Vita by over 20k. It's a system seller. It's not my opinion, it's a fact

Unit 13 isn't a system seller. Boosting sales by 18 isn't anything to brag about.

I'm say for a game to be considered a system seller, it would have to boost at least 4-5k units.

Bold lines - Isn't that contradiction?

Underline - it's not a fact because it's a subjective concept. What if I say I consider a system seller only something that boosts 21k systems?

Italic - He doesn't think like that. He probably thinks something is considered a system seller if it helps to sell systems over a long period of time. End of discussion.

You see what happens when Vita gets games? It sells.

Now lets see how you-know-who tries to spin this.....

I don't think anyone has ever debated the point that when a system gets games it will sell better. It seems that perhaps you and Vic simply have different ideas of what a system seller is. For you it's something that provides a small but noticeable boost. For him it seems he is talking more along the lines of a game that gives a pretty big boost and then continues to maintain sales for coming weeks (Like Monster hunter or Mario were on 3DS)

However do keep in mind that this is, as far as we know, possibly the biggest Vita release of the year in Japan. Others that could possibly be bigger we know so far being Hatsune Miku and Soul Sacrifice if it makes it this year which is looking unlikely. Although there could be something announced at TGS but it would need to release in 3months.

P4 has managed to boost the Vita to levels that the 3DS was managing pre-price cut. When it was doing terribly. In fact taking a look the 3DS did 32k the week before the price cut was announced. P4 is a small/moderate system seller however it hasn't magically transformed the Vita into a market success. The Vita is still in very bad shape in Japan at the moment. If it manages 35k every single week for the rest of the year then it can probably avoid needing a price cut.

As is this is a great start for P4 and a good single week for the Vita in what has otherwise been a catastrophic year.

EDIT: Should add VicViper that I don't think it is a contradiction from VGKing. 18 more units a week could simply be statistical noise. Whereas 20k is clearly not.

SECOND EDIT: Should add as well that the White Vita obviously isn't a game but could also be listed as a big release. As it should provide a nice boost.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I'm not even saying what is my concept of system seller. It's very relative, so I don't use it very much. What I'm saying is that calling someone (basilzero) opinion's irrelevant based on a sujective concept is wrong.

bold: It was a joke I played with his concept ("System Seller = A game that sells systems". If it is this, then all games are system sellers. I don't consider Unit 13 one, obviously.

This week's Persona bump actually reminds me of the week 3DS received the bump due to Ocarina of Time 3D.

Hardware Week Before Hardware Week Of Unit Boost Percent Boost
3DS 24,511 40,990 +16,479 +67%
PSV 13,383 34,495 +21,112 +157%

Ocarina of Time 3D sold 166,365 units week 1 and has sold 553,069 units so far.

Persona 4: The Golden sold 137,076 units week 1.

So yeah, some interesting similaraties.

Yay Vita broke 30k! Sadly it won't last... either next week or the week after and it'll be down below 15k

Not bad numbers for Persona 4, I'm not sure how games in the series usually sell anyway, but over 100k FW in JP is usually pretty great.

Is anyone else impressed by Tokyo Jungle's second week? I mean sure it's low compared to its first, but it's managed to stay in the top 5 and it's gone into the second shipment (Since Sony said they'd 87% of their first shipment which was 110k, and I'm pretty sure 35k is more than the remaining 13% by doing simple math lol) I wonder what it'll reach lifetime in JP...

Tokyo Jungle is actually doing even more impressive than it appears. It is available on PSN and is the top title in Japan at the moment. Very promising start for a new IP. I would it means they give a sequel a bigger scope/budget.

Don't forget that digital isn't tracked. I wouldn't be surprised if Persona did the same as Ocarina, or somewhere close.

That is interesting. But Persona has digital sales and Zelda will undoubtedly have better legs. I'm hoping for around 300-350k total retail numbers for persona.
