No, I want this gen to go on longer. I don't want to spend 300-500 dollars on a console that is only going to give me somewhat better graphics.

Couldnt agree more

you guys really went through it all???? i have a back log so long on 360 i could last 7 more years.... and that's not counting what's coming or xbla games...

i want the new gen like any tech geek.... but i doubt you can tell me you cleared all the games that potentially suite your tastes.... ??? or you have way too much time and still a shit load of money... i envy you then haha ;p

It wont take you long to run through the 360's backlog. I ran through it in a years time and the majority of the games were multiplatform or timed exclusive so theres not much.

without counting the 15 games i have right now and didn't finished.... i can count at least 5 to come out or out in the past 3 month i want to play... and at least 15 more i want to buy from older backlog....

for instance in my back log of game to finish

deus ex, me3, castlevania, bayoneta, bioshock, dantes inferno, boarderland, fear + expansions pack, fear 2, dead space, fable 3, and a couple more i can't think off right now...

to buy from recently or to come borderland 2, max payn 3, darksider 2, assassin's creed, halo 4

older, get skyrim back and pass the level 11... fallout 3 and new vegas same, bioshock 2 and 3 to come, tomb raider, RE 6, DMC the new one, ninja gaiden new one, fear 3, dead space 2 maybe 3, and plenty more like witcher 2 etc etc.... especially with second hand games several years old old... i don't mind getting lower rated one and get usually great surprises.... i still have all the tom clancy games to play, never owned any COD, or look alike, spliter cells, hitman etc.... racing games like forza i'm still on 2, burnout, nfs.... and i have played close to a 100 games already this gen....

and that doesn't count the dozen xbla game i haven't finished either or the one i want to buy....

i don't see why multiplat is an issue here... we are talking about next gen... not which plat has more games if anything it justify even more for me not to buy a PS3 since beside a handfull of exclu i might like everything else is on both... and more than often better on xb apparently....

and xbl makes also huge diff for me....

so yeah i wonder how people manage to finish the backlog on their xb or ps this gen.... cause personaly i have litteraly thousands of hours of gameplay left.... i really want to know what those people do for a leaving to have the time and money to have already exausted the catalog of this gen

XBLA and PSN...same difference. They both have their exclusives. Multiplats are anywhere and everywhere they don't represent the 360's true backlog. The true exclusives the 360 has can be burned through quickly. Enjoy XBLA...it's all the 360 has left outside of Halo and Gears. I know..those are the only games I have left to play on my 360 outside of Witcher 2.

There's still so many games I haven't played, this gen has been GAMES GAMES GAMES and I only own a PS3, good thing I don't own a X360 or Wii aswell or I'd really be screwed. I'll be ready for next gen by the end of 2013 (but only for the PSVita, I'll buy PS4 maybe in 2014 or 2015).

once again we are talking about next gen... not which console has the best exclu backlog.... i do not have a PS3 and there is simply no way i'll ever have a sony product in my livingroom....

now about pc (now i see more why we diverge on the surface btw, we just don't consume the same way) i just play rts on it.... i don't see why i would sink 6k in a custom built to play at max res max everything.... when i have a better confort/experience gaming solo and even more local multi/co op or online than i do on a PC... and if i don't get a good rig i see the point even less... while considering myself a hardcore gamer i do not play competitively.... i loath playing with a keyboard and mouse since i'm 20 yo... i enjoy my gaming time way more on my console in my living room... and for competitive play unless you have a real beast and even then... you play on lower res to have better fps and response time so it defeats the purpose....

today there is just no incentive for me moneywise and experience wise to get a gaming pc or want a new gen xb or ps.....

what i look in a pc today is ultra portability while packing power to run productivity software at under 1500 bucks... so yeah surface is a great start in that direction and next gen is far away for me when it comes down to what's left to me to enjoy.....

and while i agree psn and xbla are lookalikes.... xbla exclu blow litteraly psn catalog out of the water.... imo.... but then again we are talking current gen vs next gen not what exclu catalog is better.... if you have just one console this gen the argument doesn't matter and if you do have more than 2 you even have more to play so it makes it even less matter...

so once again beside if you have already a beast of gaming pc and played both multiplat catalog on it i don't see how people got through it all already

I agree. WiiU is so old already. I can't wait for next next-gen.

I don't need a XBox Next or PS4 the same way I don't need a Wii U Gamepad

The PS3 & X360 graphics and controllers are perfectly fine.

However, I do need Nintendo published games in HD and if that will be on a Wii U Gameplad, that hopefully proves to be a good perk rather than an annoying game hindering gimmick like the Wiimote+Nunchuk proved to be with all the unnecessary waggle.

First of all, pertaining to the new HD consoles, they've shown nothing of either of them so we don't know where we stand on them yet. I've seen the Wii U and all I can say is...multiplats galore is not swaying me to buy the console. Nintendo came little too late to the party to get the core back.

If you dont want a Sony product in your living room, thats your loss. Xbox /PC same thing...let me spell it out simpler....the Xbox is a poormans PC. It has the console games but where it lacks in its exclusives it takes from PC.

As for XBLA and PSN, theres two totally different takes on gaming:

1. A lot of the same usual games like Deadlight which is taking from Shadow complex and the Zombie horde type games. Dust Elysian tale is nice too. Very A-typical games.

2. Flower, Journey, Unfinished Swan....are examples of artistic and varied games mostly helped along by Sony Santamonica. One you'll find the smithsonian will probably have the fewest being Xbox games.

Again...its all subjective. The only thing that is factual is how dominant of a third place Sony has been in when it comes to first and second party. As for your position on there being no incentive for a next gen, that depends purely on what console you own. I agree, the PS3 has given me no reason to want a new console, on the 360 or Wii end its definitely understandable if people do.

I'm not sure you know what 'backlog' means.

I missed out on so many games that even if they stopped producing anything for the consoles, I can go into their extensive catalogue and play all the games I have not had the chance of playing yet. And that catalogue itself will last me another year or two. Now add the fact that there are new bombastic games coming out for the PS3. I am in no rush whatsoever. I got PS2 fatigue about 3 or 4 years into owning one, I am going into my 4th or 5th year with my PS3 and I have yet to get tired of it. I also game on PC, I don't have the best rig, so my gaming choices there are limited, but still gives me a bunch more options. I am very good at the moment. And I don't even think I will buy the next generation day 1 either. I've always purchased the newest system about a year or 2 into its life once all the silly kinks have been ironed out of the hardware.

for the poir mans pc... i might give you that then again remind me on what OS those gaming pc run.... and who is getting royalties for every dirext x library used and even every line of code necessary to have that sweet hardware run.... it be ludicrous from MS to even think about tempering with that income stream....

and once again beside higher graphics on a PC and better suitability for competitive gaming there is nothing experience wise better on a pc than on a hd console.... for everything else consoles offer better experience all around....

it's like arguing having a ferrari for a soccer mum to drive the 4 kids around instead of a van

and once again if you do not have/want a gaming pc... have just one console or even more with all of them... i simply find it hard to believe that players have exhausted the entire catalog exclu or multiplat alike.... so unless you are uber frustrated by the current level of grphics on current gen or have unlimited funds and time how can you already NEED desperately a next gen even with just an xbox 360... you focus on exclu here.... but the question is is there enough left to play this gen not how many exclu are left to justify next gen (again beside quality leap in tech possibilities)

Really dude? Same difference. Because as far as I can tell. Journey is the only reputable exclusive game on Psn. And that doesnt even take very long to complete. While XBLA can keep you occupied for years.

Yay!!!
