now about pc (now i see more why we diverge on the surface btw, we just don't consume the same way) i just play rts on it.... i don't see why i would sink 6k in a custom built to play at max res max everything.... when i have a better confort/experience gaming solo and even more local multi/co op or online than i do on a PC... and if i don't get a good rig i see the point even less... while considering myself a hardcore gamer i do not play competitively.... i loath playing with a keyboard and mouse since i'm 20 yo... i enjoy my gaming time way more on my console in my living room... and for competitive play unless you have a real beast and even then... you play on lower res to have better fps and response time so it defeats the purpose.... today there is just no incentive for me moneywise and experience wise to get a gaming pc or want a new gen xb or ps..... what i look in a pc today is ultra portability while packing power to run productivity software at under 1500 bucks... so yeah surface is a great start in that direction and next gen is far away for me when it comes down to what's left to me to enjoy..... and while i agree psn and xbla are lookalikes.... xbla exclu blow litteraly psn catalog out of the water.... imo.... but then again we are talking current gen vs next gen not what exclu catalog is better.... if you have just one console this gen the argument doesn't matter and if you do have more than 2 you even have more to play so it makes it even less matter... so once again beside if you have already a beast of gaming pc and played both multiplat catalog on it i don't see how people got through it all already |
First of all, pertaining to the new HD consoles, they've shown nothing of either of them so we don't know where we stand on them yet. I've seen the Wii U and all I can say is...multiplats galore is not swaying me to buy the console. Nintendo came little too late to the party to get the core back.
If you dont want a Sony product in your living room, thats your loss. Xbox /PC same thing...let me spell it out simpler....the Xbox is a poormans PC. It has the console games but where it lacks in its exclusives it takes from PC.
As for XBLA and PSN, theres two totally different takes on gaming:
1. A lot of the same usual games like Deadlight which is taking from Shadow complex and the Zombie horde type games. Dust Elysian tale is nice too. Very A-typical games.
2. Flower, Journey, Unfinished Swan....are examples of artistic and varied games mostly helped along by Sony Santamonica. One you'll find the smithsonian will probably have the fewest being Xbox games.
Again...its all subjective. The only thing that is factual is how dominant of a third place Sony has been in when it comes to first and second party. As for your position on there being no incentive for a next gen, that depends purely on what console you own. I agree, the PS3 has given me no reason to want a new console, on the 360 or Wii end its definitely understandable if people do.
