@Aielyn GE was released a whole year later at a higher price and Nba Jam was released later than the WIi version. If your gonna compare at least dont leave out info

GoldenEye did poorly overall on everything,

I just wish they did the crazy idea I was proposing with the original n64 game slightly revamped.

When they annouced rumors it might come but  not guranteree as there was licining issues between microsoft and nintendo, I proposed a comprimise between the two companies which would allow a cross platform online battle.

XBLA would get goldeneye (iinstead of a disc release and size limited) and Wii would get goldeneye on disc.In theory I was hoping they be on par with each over visually (dumbed down on 360 to match). Then have a dedicated server where gamers from 360 and wii could connect to and compete against each other.

dual analog vs wii remote. The fans of the series would have loved this and would purely on the faboy inside them want to prove which form on controls was superior. It would have generated buzz and more would have sold on both systems,

They did. Wasn't disaster day of crisis a  CULT classic?

And Nintendo made it a cult classic. That game is great.

sadly  it wasnt even marketed as a Nintendo game here. It was shelved in the bottom corner with the rest of the shovelware.

Because Nintendo prefers to milk the same franchises over and over and over and over again.

bad controller imo. imagine playing GTA with the wii mote. or even the game cube controller. it would just be bad. also the wiis market is 5-13 year olds and 25-55 year olds for the most part.
the market for hardcore games is the opposite of what the majority wii marketshare happens to be.

So, the target age group for so-called 'mature' games is apparently 14-24?????? When I was 24 I could barely scratch my own ass.

Nintendo should make a MARIO fps multiplayer type game. How cool would that be?running through dingy bunkers, abandoned weapons warhouses etc throwing turtle shells at each other.

C'mon NINTENDO...make it happen!!!!

So in order for a game to be 'core,' it must be realistic or have violence/guns? Got it.

Nintendo has stated before that they have little experience of producing their own violent titles.

Surely, a huge gaming company like Nintendo could have gathered developers/studios to do the project, or they could have just ....learned how to? I'm sure it's worth the risk anyway.

Easier said then done, Nintendo has it culture and changing it could turn out to be a bit schizophrenic.

Nintendo likes to move with convidence. I would think it makes them uneasy on a personal level, more then it would be any money/investment issue.

Don't you think 3rd party support is a lot more important than feeling 'easy on a person level'?

One has to realize that many business decisions (in and probably outside the VG industry) are made on an emotional level. Sure, it's stupid, but a real problem in many companies.

In any company there is always the fear that if you move away from what you know, you might fail big time. No company wants to take risks; they're forced to.

The best thing is that Nintendo starts small > buy a "mature" studio  or two and have them start on a more mature title then usual. And see how that goes and try to fit it into their culture.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Lol...Assassin's Creed, GTA, Call Of Duty....Smash Bros alone is more hardcore than all those games combined, let alone Donkey Kong.

Anyway, I'm actually happy Nintendo doesn't make a game just to prove a point. A game is meant to be played.

what the hell? op is so easy to understand and mr creampie has now like 100 posts in this thread with none of them related to the thread! how can something be so hard to understand?

nintendo "we have no third party core games (which third parties name core), but why? they would be successful? we want them!"

third party: "they wouldn't be successful, risk would be too high to flop financially"

op: "why doesn't nintendo make such a game third party defines as core to show they would sell good if they want tose games on wii?"

creampie: "nintendo is brilliant, microsoft and sony have to prove they have what nintendo has. they have to prove they can make such games by themselve"

me: "huhhh?"

You can say whatever you want and deny it however you want, but games like Bioshock Dead Space Bayonetta or The Witcher don´t sell on the Wii.

I don't think anyone is denying that.  With the exception of Dead Space (albeit being a good, but not great, on-rails spin off) none of them released on the Wii
