good article!
as I've said before Nintendo should use whatever money they are going to spend on 3rd party exclusive into their own new projects.
buy a studio or two or open new ones and make new games

they made a lot of money with DS and Wii, but it feels to me that they didn't invest that into more first party devs
maybe that's because I don't have any of their current gen consoles and they actually did buy/build new dev teams, so don't slaughter me if I'm wrong

Monolith Soft was purchased and Project Sora was built this-gen, and there was a huge restructuring back in 2004 to prepare for the oncoming generation, presumably. But you're right in saying that Nintendo hasn't invested a lot into first-party developers. Second-party games are a completely different story. :)

^^This sums it up for me as well^^
Nintendo shouldn't buy third-party games. More second-party development, on the other hand, would be great. Publishing Lego City: Undercover is a good start.

Since I own a gaming PC this doesn't concern me too much, so if Nintendo doesn't get the third party games then I just buy them for my PC, but its understandable that people just want to buy one console and from what I've seen the Wii U won't have those third party games, I just hope I'm wrong on this one...
