Forums - Gaming - The move to next gen.

The move to next gen scares me. In the wake of the ps3's announcement, I did not want it to be. Why change hardware when the ps2 is doing amazing. I feel the same way now. I would rather stay with my trusty Wii and PS3 then have a new generation gamble on how things will change. A mistake I made at the end of the ps2 era was not giving this generation a fair shot and doubting everything. That mistake will not be made next gen.

Has that ever happened to any of you? Felt like you would rather stay in the current generation then move on. Or have you felt like no matter what the next gen wont be able to capture the magic that you felt in the current?

I am pretty happy with the current gen. Graphics mean not that much to me and there is no problem with current gen graphics. The recent rumours suggest that the next gen will not be that much graphically advanced than the current gen. So, why would I go to the next gen?

I'm ready for Wii U, but I'm in no hurry to see Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles.

I am constantly ready for change and progression. We grew up in a world that constantly does this to us, so I'm surprised more people haven't been raised to push for growth and change, or at least expect it.

Not that it's a bad thing. All you need to make sure of is that you don't grow into one of those old geezers who talks about how future rock stars are the devil. :P

As soon as I saw the footage of Super Mario Galaxy I knew I was ready for the next generation!

Pikmin 3 looks cool so I am looking forward to the move to next gen, just not as much as before.

Didn't give the transition much thought before last gen as I didn't visit many gaming websites, I just bought things as they came out.

I'm ready for next-gen, I can get through the next 12 months with the holiday titles and the Jan-May line-up, but I can't see nothing in the 2013 line-up that will tide me over.

As spongebob would say I'm Ready.

I'll be ready for next gen, but I'll be a late adopter. I choose to wait for hardware revisions, and also for a nice software lineup.

I was upset when N64 was canned. :(

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I agree with Spurgey and Nightwish about N64. It was saddening back then to see how the stores got less and less N64 games while the PS1 and PS2 where going strong. I was obviously happily surprised though when I got myself a Gamecube and witnessed the awesomeness of Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion =) (Eventually, along with 27 more titles. No other console did I get that many games for.)

And then there was Wii... I borrowed the awesome Super Mario Galaxy, I (most recently) bought Super Mario Galaxy 2, I bought and played through the mediocre Metroid Prime 3, I enjoyed both Zelda titles and I still enjoy Super Smash Brother Brawl, but that's it. For a Nintendo console it was a freakin' disaster for me. However, I do realized that I completely missed out on Donkey Kong Country, but the reason to that is that I'm not familiar with the series, and without the nostalgia, I'm not too sure it's worth my time.

Luckily, Xbox 360 was there to take its place, while the DS was the most awesome handheld that I've ever had. So anything can happen this upcoming gen, and I'm looking forward to the 'changes'!

This gen was great, but I embrace next gen. This generation had a lot of potential for innovative gameplay experiences, but most of them were unrealized as most developers focused on presentation. I think next gen can be way better than this gen if developers re-focus on gameplay & give presentation a back-seat. Given next-generation technology, and even current-generation technology, I'm we could still have sufficient presentation with really focusing on it.
