I have!
Not all at once, though.
I have registered to run a half marathon in mid August and I might do another marathon two weeks later in late August. Half marathon and marathon only two weeks apart.
A sub 4 hour marathon would be my ultimate personal fitness goal.
Anyway how do you improve on running hills? Running on flat course is relatively straight forward but hills (downhills and upwards) require a lot of strength and endurance to overcome.
The longest run I do is the 5k. I can't imagine what a full marathon would be like. I'm totally spent at the end of a 5k and really have to push it for the last 8th of a mile.
Good luck on your marathon!
In August I completed two half marathons, two weeks apart. First in 101 minutes(PB) on a flat course and the second in 106 minutes on a challenging hilly course.
I am looking forward to breaking 4 hours in my next marathon in 10 months time. Hopefully I get closer to 95 minutes in half marathon next year. I now have plenty of time to do a lot of training, lose some weight and improve core strength, stamina and endurance in order to improve my times in HM and Marathon.
Running time goals:
4hour marathon
95 mins in half marathon
40 mins in 10k
20 mins in 5k
I'd take inspiration from many "older" runners that have taken up running, i'm sure you'll be able to find all sorts of runners that have taken it up and decided to do Marathons.
The 40mins for 10k is a very good target, my Dad (Who is 58 by the way) started running 8 years ago and has improved his 10k time from 43:30 to 37:30 which was set this year!
Good luck!
PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.
I haven't done a marathon yet but i want to do it eventually. I think i will find it hard though, because i'm used to walking everywhere, rather than running. But i still want to do it.
I had no idea they did half marathons though

Heres a old blog I use to keep online back in February if you take a look it might give you some training ideas.

Good luck with the training.
My time goals are:
5km from 22 mins down to 19 minutes.
10km from 45 minutes down to 40 minutes.
HM(21.1km/13.1m) from 101 minutes down to 90 minutes.
M(42.2km/26.2m) from 270 minutes down to 220 minutes.
I am 84kg/185 pounds and 5'10". Losing 5 to 10kg/11 to 22 pounds as well as more training and improved fitness should help me achieve my fitness goals.
