maybe the fact the "copys" came so quickly was the fact that no one is actually copying nintendo but rather in fact trying to cash in after the success of the ipad. apple revolutionized the market -- the wii U is just another in a long line of knock-offs.

It's absolutely amazing how ignorant people are in here about gaming history. Nintendo was working with dual screen gaming way before there was such a thing as an iphone or ipad, before Sony ever tried it, before anyone ever really did it. Nintendo was already doing dual screen gaming, and the Wii U is a clear evolution of an idea, the gamecube-gameboy advance link, if you care to know anything at all. This was a decade ago, i'm assuming you don't know about it because most of you were in diapers back then, but look at the list of supported games on this wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube%E2%80%93Game_Boy_Advance_link_cable

Is there anything before the Dreamcast that had the 2nd screen thing?

Edit - Should refresh page before posting

Oh please Nintendo, I Pad are already doing this stuff with Apple TV, PSP already did remote play, There is already a Vita game that links up with the PS3 for dual screen gaming (UMvC3), everyones done it and got there products to market first Ninty.

Im not saying Nintendos wont be good, in fact it might even be alot better, but they need to get off there high horse a bit.

If you can play this way I also can.

Nintend DS enogh said.

( you came up with stuff thats similar but not exactly like the WiiU  and I came up with the DS as a dual screen device  also similar but still different.  Both of us left out the parts we wanted to leave out so our comments have more weight and leave less room to be critisized)

The WiiU is just the next generation of N64/GBC   or Cube/GBA connection. or DS. This time its standard and therefore will get better support.

I believe it was only a prototype that never got released, not even in Japan.

It never manged to get released due to poor sales of the 64DD, that pic was taken at Nintendo's Space World convention in the 90's. It just shows how long Nintendo has been experimenting with dual screens. There's more about the N64-GBC connectivity in this IGN article from 2001: http://uk.gameboy.ign.com/articles/098/098331p1.html

mmmm .......wiimote is not camera based motion
Kinect is the eytoy ripoff
so hold your hate a bit...

Hold my hate? Did you even read what I referring to? It's in the OP...

“With Wii, when we brought out motion controls and introduced that as a new idea in gaming, initially there were people who didn’t understand it. Three years later, our competitors both came out with their own motion control systems,” he said, referring to Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move.

He mentioned that they introduced motion controls as a new idea in gaming and said the competitors then released their own in the Kinect and Move, yet conviniently omits the fact that the Eyetoy released and introduced motion as a style of gaming during the PS2 era.

So what I was saying is that if Kinect is used as an example for "Motion controls in gaming" why can't we counter his point with the Eyetoy? It doesn't matter whether Kinect is an Eyetoy ripoff or not and in fact, claiming it as being just that only enhances my argument.

No hate resides here pal.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
