“With Wii, when we brought out motion controls and introduced that as a new idea in gaming, initially there were people who didn’t understand it. Three years later, our competitors both came out with their own motion control systems,” he said, referring to Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move.

maybe the fact the "copys" came so quickly was the fact that no one is actually copying nintendo but rather in fact trying to cash in after the success of the ipad. apple revolutionized the market -- the wii U is just another in a long line of knock-offs.

It's absolutely amazing how ignorant people are in here about gaming history. Nintendo was working with dual screen gaming before there was such a thing as an iphone, before Sony ever did it, before anyone ever really did it. Nintendo was already doing dual screen gaming, and the Wii U is a clear evolution of an idea, the gamecube-gameboy advance link, if you care to know anything at all. This was a decade ago, i'm assuming you don't know about it because most of you were in diapers back then, but look at the list of supported games on this wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube%E2%80%93Game_Boy_Advance_link_cable

Nintendo was doing dual screen before GC-GBA as well:

Now that's a piece of history! Was that released in Japan only?
