Pie, we used the vg$ to bet on sales.

Thats why we need it back. It adds a little more to the prediction. You have something on the line.

I wish you would've quoted me. >_<

What's the difference then if we bet on our gamrPoints?

Points are too easy to get. Youve been here 7 Months and you have almost as many points as Barozi. He's been here for over 4 Years.

vg$ would be a clean slate for everyone. A slate that cant be boosted by spamming the forums or walls.

An you get a backlash, as Ryan said.

Many people like or aren't swayed either which way about gamrPoints. Taking that away could cause a possible amount of people to leave and a large amount of grumpy VGChartians.

You think there would be a backlash?

A large portion of this thread has people talking about bringing back useful stuff that was taken away.

Points arent useful. Theyre worthless. There is literally no point to the points system. There would be minimal backlash compared to what this sites seen before.

Go find me 10 people who would leave this site if points were removed. Please.

No need to get sassy.

What's the difference with VG$? Aren't they the same thing just with the betting factor?

Ill make it 5 people, just to make it easy for you.

Its going to be a pointless gauge of activity when the database is removed from VGChartz. Its not needed, it can easily be replaced by something that encourages lengthy discussion and adds to a returning feature.

Post count / Time here is more than enough to judge someones activity.

A NSFW section that actually deserves that name and can only be accessed if you're a registered user and have a certain amount of posts or time spent on this site. hehehehehehe

Now for real (not discrediting the above though):

- I'm all for a sig limit. I know mine is already borderline and I tell others to not exceed my sig.

- Prediction League must come back. While I pretty much never used it, I think it's an important and unique feature of this site and I liked to look at the results back in the days. However I think we should do a complete restart and give every user on this site the same number of VG$. That way we know for sure who is the best who is not.

- Wall is one of the best features of the newer VGC era. It must survive. Also Hot Topics section and the forum buddy.

- HTML improvements: colours, font size

- Maximum amount of quotes (about 2)

- When someone is banned...Not the "this user's post has been removed" phrase. Maybe just a small tag in a corner of that person's avatar that says "banned" in red letters. There are so many famous banned members from the past and many of the ancient threads live from their Crazzyness.

- IM feature maybe ?

- The search function needs a major revamp. I can't even find my own threads when I type them in word by word. Always need to use Google instead.

Personally I don't have any problems with the current sub forums.

I ilke most of what Barizu said here.

-One of my favorite things to do was Prediction league, it gave you a reason to pay closer attention to sales, trends, and other sales related news.  It tied directly into the core goal of the site. Although I was never too good at it.

-Walls are pretty awesome, and really give the site a more social network kind of feel too it (Although mines pretty barren).

- No need for IM though.  I remember back when they had vgchartz IM and it was pretty much a desert in there.  The only time I ever used it was to vrs people in the Conduit from vgcharts online .

Again, Carl?

Anyway, would you please explain to me what the big difference is? Because right now the only thing I've picked up is that you can bet with them.

EDIT: Other than you thinking that it could possibly curb "spamming."

A) Not very happy about the site split. I, along with many others, put a lot of time into the game database here. The reason I put all those hours in was because it was here, at VGChartz. I thought it was important to have good and accurate game information to go along with the sales data attached to a game. I really am saddened by the idea that most of that work will be going to another site that I may not mesh with too well.

B) Agreed that forums have got to be cut down.

I fully intend to give gamewise a fair shot. Not only does the idea seem like it might be good, but I feel that as a team member of VGC(even if a lowly one) I should give some honest support to the new endeavor. It's just that I'm a VGC guy, and don't really see myself as anything but that. I hope everything works out for the best, but more than anything I hope VGC doesn't die.

I think I did most of the base entries for the 2600 and TG-16, as well as filling holes for other systems(mostly older ones), and now it's not even going to be a part of this site anymore? I really don't see splitting the site up helping too much. I fear it will just spread out an already thin community. Hopefully I'm wrong though. And maybe I'll just have to see everything for myself and it will make a lot more sense to me then.

Just four forums should be enough.

And functionality like colouring our text and changing their font/sizes.

If it's possible please change the forum buddy. It's ok if it follows us but make it smaller so that I can view it with any monitor.

The only problem with having just one forum for all of gaming is it will be hard to find topics, especially during big times like E3.

Just one E3 thread should have been sufficient (it would be one huge thread), and MS forums are usually super quiet just like the PC forums.
