i thought about it and they will have a lot of games 2013 and even if microsoft will release the nextbox 2013, they could compete against it with some great releases which i believe will be as example gran turismo 6. i don't know but i won't believe they only release one gran turismo for ps3 which should have eaten a lot of money for advertisement and development because of the new engine. when gran turismo 5 was released we could read about the start of development for gran turismo 6 and this could at least prevent people in europe to buy the nextbox because europeans love gran turismo. i'm not sure if gran turismo was profitable because it had to be damn expensive and they want to use the engine at least for one more release an will make a nice profit with gran turismo 6 then.

yesterday i read something from jack tretton like "we were never the first and never the cheapest" which could be a hint for a 2014 release as well.

am i talking nonsense and should go the pachter way as analyst or does this sound plausible? i believe this because of gran turismo and surely because of many other releases like "the last of us" which they won't kill the sales of only few weeks/months after release with a new console but i could be totally wrong

2014 is the date I expect PS4 to release. Mainly due to the problems the company is experiencing. Even though their gaming division is profitable I don't think Sony has the cash to develop and ship a PS4 next year.

I think they might release PS4 by 2013 Nov. They will start supporting it really well in 2014.

Sony has also said they want to launch their next gen console before Microsoft do, or at least that was rumoured. And I think that's more plausible. Q4 2013 latest. I'm expecting a Q3 release. The Last of Us and God of War will come out early next year, so the PS4 could be announced months after they release. Let's say we get The Last of Us in Feb and GOW in March and PS4 is announced at E3, this leaves a pretty big gap.

Let's also not forget that games have been proven to sell well for at least a year or 2 on last gen systems even when the next gen is out, let alone announced.

GT6 should be a PS4 launch title. It would be one of the biggest launch titles ever and sell millions of PS4s, a possible instant victory in Europe over Microsoft as well.

bolded: hmm yeah i believe i did not really think about that. fans who really want games at release should buy the games on release and people who wait a year or so because they wait for a price reduction won't buy a ps4 at release, i think i was wrong there^^

underlined: hmm not sure because they started with gt6 when gt5 was out, would cost a lot of money to jump to ps4 then (if it wasn't the plan from beginning but i don't believe that) but that sounds like a good idea. they wouldn't maybe sell millions of consoles just with gt but at least they would sell some and could kill nextbox sales in europe.

If you're going to go by a Gran Turismo argument, remember that GT5: Prologue was indeed released on the PS3 and shipped over 5 million according to PD.

I think a GT6 launch with the PS4 would be a very smart move. They've already had a few years working on it, polish polish polish.

im pretty happy with my ps3. It's almost 1 year old! its a little baby!
