Forums - Nintendo - Trine 2 to launch on Wii U - 'next-gen visuals' make it the 'definitive console version'

VideoGamer

Trine 2: Director's Cut for Wii U will be the definitive console version of the game, developer Frozenbyte has claimed.

Set to launch this holiday season, Trine 2: Director's Cut features the acclaimed original game with numerous enhancements and gameplay polish, plus a new game mode called "Magic Mayhem" designed exclusively for Wii U.

The upcoming Trine 2 expansion will also be included in the Director's Cut.

"We are thrilled to work on Wii U and bring the best version of Trine 2 to the platform," said Lauri Hyvärinen, CEO of Frozenbyte. "Trine 2: Director's Cut features many things that we had to cut from the original release on other platforms and a completely new user experience tailored especially for Wii U. We are also going to introduce the new "Magic Mayhem" party mode that brings the frantic multiplayer of Trine 2 into a more challenging environment where players can battle and laugh together."

"Simultaneously we are working on the upcoming expansion for Trine 2, which will come out on Wii U at the same time. It will provide a fantastically exhilarating adventure following the heroic trio of Amadeus, Pontius and Zoya – or as otherwise known, the Wizard, the Knight and the Thief. The expansion is our best work yet and absolutely stunning in every respect, and is going to be a fantastic experience on Wii U."

really, the graphics are absolutely stunning!!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Game is good, visuals are great, though I forced myself to play through the game. Combat is a bit dull, some "puzzles" are very frustrating and the physics can be exploited to cheat your way through the levels.
It's short though for me it felt like an eternity to finish it. Not the best signs for enjoying a game.

I got it for free. That is the definitive version of the game, IMO.

i couldn't even finish the PoS... going from trine to trine 2 they managed to remove all the fun. i mean, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to limit where you could grapple to down to just about fucking no where?!?

dear nintnedo fans: do yourself a favor and save your money.

^ You can't beat free! Does Nintendo plan on selling this game in stores? That would be a mistake.

eShop, presumably. Although a retail release would be hilarious.

If you get everything for the PC, it is $35.
So while everyone is thinking this is a digital release for the WiiU, it could be both ways (and the first "bargain" title).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
