Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo had a good conference! Stop over-hyping ourselves!

Okay lets all admit it. We do this EVERY year. We get overhyped, expect big then get depressed afterwards. But besides that we overlook what was announced and when you do that, you become condescending and take what we never had (Mass Effect 3, Batman, etc.) for granted! Yeah the conference was not what you wanted it to be why? Because you want it to be the 80+ plus rumors of hybrid games and whatnot.

Wii U doesn't launch until later this year. We already know Zelda is in development. We already know Smash Bros is in development. We know Monolith Soft is hard at work. We know Retro Studios is hard at work. If they were ready to show it off they would have. Us Nintendo fans need to rethink what we are doing and actually appreciate we got to see next gen games so early.

ON A SIDE NOTE - Nintendo could have at least teased us with project names. They did say this conference was going to be solely on Wii U games  but from the first party side, we didn't see too many. So Nintendo was a little mean. Where's the usual Zelda artwork tease? Or secret project in the works by this studio. Hype comes from both sides, and unfortunately the fans did all the hyping.

Agree? Disagree? I'd like to read your thoughts...

Did you actually watch the conference..?

Here's what you need to do. Watch Nintendo's 2006 E3 conference and compare it. End of discussion.

What they showed was solid. Most of it was actually brilliant - I'm watching all the trailers now - and Mario, Pikmin, Lego and Scribblenauts all look gorgeous!
But I was craving for more. I don't know if it was intentional, but where's every single nintendo studio? Where's Retro, Hal, Monolith, Metroid team Zelda team... etc.

I actually agree with you, however I think all companies could have done more. It felt more lackluster than anything.

I will say this almost all titles showcased are designed for launch.

Good conference?

The only thing I got out of it was the verification that the Wii u will be the first Nintendo console I won't be buying.

As far as E3 overall goes, I want 3 hours plus of my life back!

That being said I liked the start of the Nintendo presentation. Pikmin 3 looks like fun. I also saw the potential in using the touch screen for many different purposes that currently require me to bring up a menu or switch my view. Then it all fell apart with the dancing, singing and fitness titles culminating in Nintendoland?!?! It made me forget all the positive thoughts.

I'm going to reserve judgement and see how it plays out.

My thoughts? your thoughts suck.

Nintendo had the most to prove and the energy going in and they took it nowhere. Theres a reason why no one cares about Batman or Mass Defect... They already came out and industry has moved forward and wont stop for a port.

Luckily they showed the Mario games and Pikman. Take that away what was Nintendo's E3 about? I cant believe Star Fox and Metroid weren't there..no new IP either. This wasn't just another E3 for Nintendo. This is a proper new Hardware presentation.

Oh, I'm not concerned about Nintendo developing great games for the Wii U.
However, if they aren't shown at the E3 press conference, they certainly do not count towards to the quality of the conference. And this conference really needed a shot in the arm, preferably at the very end.

was it really that much better? It showed the same kind of stuff, expect the zelda and metroid, and the zelda was for the gamecube as well

seriously I was expecting something from Retro

I'm happy with Pikmin 3 but we already knew it was going to be there . this is Nintendo's fault as they have spoiled us by having a surprise or two in their conferences

If Pikmin 3 is not a launch title then there is no reason for me to get the system day 1
