Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Japan Wii U Tab 2.5 hours to charge, last 3-5 hours on charge depending on contrast setting

I guess one of the things not being mentioned is real world testing. Another is that if you move further away from the source that is the Wii U, does the gamepad have to work harder to find the signal, thus draining more battery? That kind of throws the ability to move the device around the house out the window (the Wii U Fit video had the guy in close proximity to the Wii U itself). Another concern would be interferences.

Hopefully some real world testing would be done before the device going on sale, give customers a better reflection on what to expect.

I play 10 to 12h-long sessions every week-end

Are you ever planning on getting the Wii U?

As soon as Monolith Software releases its next RPG (I bought a wii exclusively for Xenoblade)

Doesn't it have a charge port in the controller that you can use during gameplay like the Gamepad Pro?

If that's the case, who cares. No one should be playing 3 hours straight anyway unless its an RPG.

Then I doubt you have little reason to worry about the battery.

The most I've ever played a video game for is 5 hours. I'm not bothered by this at all.

I've even played with my DS while charging, I can do the same with the Wii U. Another solution is having two gamepads, playing with one while charging the other. And rotate.

I'd assumed they'd ship it with a charging cradle, like 3DS, though I suppose that would be one more item to jack up costs. It'd be handy for me though. I rarely game over 3 hours at a time any more, and spend less time playing games in general, but the great thing about my 3DS cradle is that it encourages me to keep the 3DS in one place and it keeps the device charged. I'd imagine that if Nintendo want Wii U to be center of the living room, and want multiple users per console, they'll include a cradle in the box, to encourage a similar mentality of keeping the pad in sight and in one place, and of keeping the device charged.

I assume you can play while charging.I do that with the ds and psp all the time...man nintendo is fucking up big time
