Very obvious that MS has most of their best studios working on the next generation.

Now that this generation has mature game engines most of the publishers and devts have started up new studios to build games on the engines that are in place. This gives the seasoned studios a lot of time to work on the next generation.

Hopefully the transition to this next gen will be smoother than the last one... Hopefully, the Unreal Engine and others are 100 % going into the generation as they stumbled at the start of this last one... Also, hope they revive Too Human and Alan Wake as both games were too ambitious for what this generation could offer.

I know most people thought MS had a bad conference but if you look at the actual games for 2012, MS isn't in bad shape compared to Sony. And having some early games in 2013 will keep everyone going. Then, at the 2013 E3 they will dispense a huge launch lineup of both core and kinect games. Also getting technologies out there like Kinect and Smart Glass, allows them to learn, and make them much better for the next generation.

The only question I have right now is will the XBox 3 be downward compatible with XBox 360...

I also expect Rare to be big on the next XBox launch. Last year they only shipped Kinect Sports 2 so they probably started work on the next generation back in 2010 with half the studio. Then, when Kinect Sports 2 was out they would've turned the entire studio over to this next generation. I expect at least two launch titles from them... Probably one Kinect and one core title.

the human eye can see ~300dpi with 25cm distance. it's not 100% clear, many studies say different things but that's the average of all numbers. the highest was 384dpi. now you can calculate for yourself how sight distance has to be with let's say 2160p 55'' tv's (80dpi). this is close, maybe still useful but this should be really enough except for people with 120'' tv's/beamers. they could maybe use 4320p tv's or something like that sitting 1 meter away or so^^

Unlike Wii that lacks 3rd party support, Xbox has massive support and in 2013 we will still see games like :

Tomb Raider

Crysis 3

Gears of War Judgment

Splinter Cell BlackList

Bioshock Infinite

Hitman Absolution (?)

And much much much more.

i can guarantee you their won't be any launch early any year ever.... the only viable window is pre hollyday season after back to school sales..... that's a given now which year is the question.... but early 2014 that won't happen..

now every year it's the same MS is the smartest one when it comes to long term marketing.... they have been making an habit of talking at e3 about games and stuff mostly coming out the same year or early the next... but not so much about other stuff.....

so i'm still not sure we can be sure of a november 2013 launch..... but nov 2014 pretty sure we'll have it out by then... it would be in phase with a 10 year life cycle for the 360 either way..... at that point the only thing that is holding them is not good sales on xb but on kinect especially if they use a kinect 2.0 on the next one..... people buying the xb now would probably not by a new console anyway.....

once new xbox out they can drop the 360 at 99.99 or do 199 kinect bundle with a few platinum games.... but yeah within the next 30 month it'll be out..... windows 8 might also play a part in the mix....

Forza Horizon isnt Turn 10. Forza 5 very well isgoing to be next year.
Gears Judgement isnt Epic games. Expect Gears 4 in 2013 or 2014.
Fable the Journey is taking up half of Lionheads staff.
Rare has something big in the works.....Kinect Sports obviously doesnt take up much of their resources.
Ryse rumors.
Bungie 360/720 game rumors.
Halo 2 2014 Anniversary edition

I mean you got 2013 and Holiday 2014 on lockdown right there.
