the human eye can see ~300dpi with 25cm distance. it's not 100% clear, many studies say different things but that's the average of all numbers. the highest was 384dpi. now you can calculate for yourself how sight distance has to be with let's say 2160p 55'' tv's (80dpi). this is close, maybe still useful but this should be really enough except for people with 120'' tv's/beamers. they could maybe use 4320p tv's or something like that sitting 1 meter away or so^^
