After E3 it is certain that MS will release the next generation of the Xbox 360 nex year.

The reason are not the games showed, but the games not showed.

Here are the resources MS puts in the Xbox 3:

• There was no game by one of the newly founded studios (MS Victoria, MS Vancouver, MS Soho etc)
• Crytek's RYSE was a no-show and there was a rumour about it to be a Xbox 3 launch title
• No Rare game and they have been hiring a lot these days
• No second Lionhead game and they have been hiring as well
• No Epic Games game (this just sounds stupid)
• No Turn10 game

So my guess is that Rare, Lionhead, Epic Games, Turn10 and all the new studios are already working on XBOX 3 titles.

Gears and Forza got new games, I'm assuming that some random studio is making forza and people can fly is making gears of war judgement.

or maybe microsoft just sucks

New teams are likely just not ready to announce what they are working on yet their games are still likely 1+ years off at least unless they are quick Kinect games.

Lionhead started working on a next gen game of course they won't announce it until next gen is announced, that game is likely 2 years off.

Epic technically did announce something, as they own People Can Fly. Epic proper have already announced a game FortNight and they are apparently working on a PC exclusive as well which will probably be a free to play Unreal game, and of course their big Unreal 4 showcase game which could well be announced on the 7th when they fully unvail UE4, even tho it is at least 2 years off at this point.

Turn 10 won't announce their game until next year as they are focusing on promoting Horizon this year it would be bad for sales if they started talking about Forza 5 while they are marketing Horizon.

That said MS will announce the next box by the end of E3 2013, there are too many leaks and talk about next gen games for them not to.

I think they will have new hardware next year, but I think some still depends on how well the Xbox 360 sells and what impact the WiiU has.

I think the main reason they upgraded to the 360 so fast is that, while selling better than the GameCube, they had no chance against Sony's PS2. That just outsold everything.

I really hope they make a powerful console like some of the rumors. Since this gen has lasted so long; I hope the next gen is like 2 generations better.  Since the cutting edge the hardware the more expensive.   I think they want to delay it as long as they can (and it's been a long time!)

All that I know is in 2013, new games will be announced:) Also, I see the next Gen pumping out some 60fps games because 1080p is just about the best that our eyes can see.

So MS leaes with Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Fable Journey and Dance Central 3 in 2012.

Splinter Cell Blacklist and Gears of War: Judgement in early 2013, before the new console will be released late 2013. Sounds awesome and way better than the Nintendo way (letting you console die 1 year in advance).

Now that makes it sound Like a sold deal. of coarse they won't annouce it yet because it will kill sales this holiday season. However this is a perfect way to part ways and start a new gen.
