That sounds like an aspect straight out of an old school dungeon crawler (some of them allowing you to retrieve your old equipment by finding your old corpse)
sweet. Perhaps i'll be willing to overlook my distaste for zombie games...

Not all zombie games are of a kind.
This one looks like an actual survival game. One bite means death, you are constantly in danger of being attacked (even or especially while managing your inventory), your character is randomly generated and if killed will show up as a zombie for later characters
Resources are limited
Terror is high
This looks like it's gonna be good. What's the problem?
