Forums - Sony - My 50/50- Expectations From Sony's E3

By 50/50- I mean announcements that have a 50% or lower chance of actually happening, in other worrds, off the wall expectations that would be huge suprises.

4.)  Metal Gear Solid 5, If this does come to fruition, I fully expect to play a new character other than Snake.  More than likely that person would be Johnny, the slightly dorky subordinate of Meryl who may or may not be a Clone of Big Boss.  Johnny really came into his own in MGS4 and gained a ton of popularity from within the series fan base, and I wouldnt mind in the slightest if he were the MC.

3.) Either The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy Versus 13 will make an appearence.  These are the two games that everyone and their grandmother want to see above all others, with the exception of a FFVII Remake, but no one is actually sure if either of them really exist.  Just a single mention of one of them would make this the best conference in E3 by far.  Yet neither of them is likely to appear. :(

2.) Everquest Next.  Wait what?  This is one of those games that no-one knows they want, until the see it.  The EverQuest Franchise is one of the most important in gaming history and spans across 3 MMO's and 2 top down Diablo-esque RPG's (Champions of Norrath and Champions: Return To Arms, PS2)

EverQuest Next was announced 3 years ago at SoE's Fan Faire, little info has been given since that time, but when asked if the game would appear on the PS3 - Sony responded with a big grin that they had no comment, and later stated that they are extremely dedicated to making the PS3 a hub of MMO activity.  So dont be suprised if this game makes a suprise appearence.

1.) Media Molecules new series makes its debut.  Last year,  Sony's Media Molecule studio - Creators of the most played video game series in history, Little Big Planet, announced that they were working on concepts for a new IP and didnt want to dwell solely on Sackboy's shoulders.  One thing is clear, whatever Media Molecule is working on, is sure to be something to behold.

Do you have any 50/50- predictions?

Really doubt #1. 3 as well.

4 ≈ One

MGS5 is very possible... Johnny as main is not. It will most likely be a Big Boss game or Cobra Unit.

TLG with release is a must or vaporware

The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy Versus 13 not known titles? What? Little big planet the most played game series in history? What? Stop trolling.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Ssliasil, if you expect at least half of those games/announcement you're going to be disappointed.

You missread the line about TLG and FFV13, and Yes LBP is the most played series in history, off the record.

On the record, CoD and Halo are the most played - only because they actually record how long players play.  Off the record however, the total played time in LBP COMPLETELYdwarves CoD and Halo combined.

In short, there are 7 million LBP player created levels.  Lets be extremely conservative and say that the average time it took to create those levels was 30 minutes (Any level I have ever worked on took well more than 40 hours to create) And the average time to complete a playthrough of a level is about 15 minutes.

Just to create those levels it would take well over 200 Million Minutes (It took at the VERY LEAST 400 YEARS for players to create those levels, closer to 700 years if you arent conservative on the time required to create a level)

Now if take into account how may times players have actually played levels (well over 200 million plays) then you start getting into the 10,000-12,000 years of play time in LBP 1 and 2 alone.  Thats not even counting the main story, handheld games, or the millions of unpublished levels.

Those number completely dwarf Halo and CoD by a long shot.
