When a full out movie fails, leave it to MS to create their own canon approved, quality movie with a mere $10 million budget. I think everybody is surprised and impressed with FUD.

^^ Maybe if FUD is successful enough they might venture out for an actual Hollywood budget film. One can only hope!
@part 4
omg no clue how this would be for someone who doesn't care about halo but for a huge halo fan this is so freaking awesome!

I'm going to have some of my relatives that don't care for videogames watch the full extended version of FUD and see what they think of it. Hopefully they will enjoy it.

did you watch it or do you wait for the full movie? if not, small spoiler: (not even sure if this counts as spoiler but who knows lol)
even something like the "needles" gave me goose bumps but i'm not sure if someone who doesn't care about halo would think that's cool but i loved it
Holy crap Episode 4 was epic! Those Elites are so damn menacing.
Btw you know Chief if only 15 yrs old if FUD?

Yeah that's crazy. Some people on Gaf are complaining that he wouldn't actually have the rank of Master Chief at this point though. I'm no lore expert so I don't know how the dates shake out but if that's the case then I'm surprised they'd make that mistake.
@ crissindahouse I absolutely loved the needles and plasma. I heard a lot of Needlers going off but didn't see any streaming through the air like in the game, only single Needler Rifle rounds. Still awesome though seeing them shattering on impact.
I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
Wow that's a nice (and long) story:
Polygon: We spend a day in Microsoft's User Research labs to see how the company uses public feedback to polish its most important game.

Ok, I just watched it again. How the MC came across here was something I was a little worried about initially but man, he was done so well IMO, I even like his voice. There are so many subtle things going on here too, like the sizzling of the plasma sword, how evil the Elites sound and how cool the vapor trails of the plasma rounds look. I even heard a grunt chattering somewhere, I think it was over the Elite's comms right before he was assassinated by Chief. I thought the young actors were excellent too showing their fear, especially Lasky and Vickers.
Oh, and here's one more thing, if you pause at the very end of next week's snippet, you'll see a fucking Hunter and since they always work in pairs, I'm sure we'll see at least two of them.......shit....yes.

Its one of the sacrifices in canon MS made to reel in non-Halo fans, like the armor change in halo 4 was really just a marketing stunt to keep the series fresh and evolve (we all know the nanos are a BS excuse).
A casual Halo fan associates John 117 as Master Chief. If hes what, a "Petty Officer John 117" at the time, people will be like " WTF hes not that rank, hes Master Chief!"
Its just video game politics, small meaningless breaks in canon that are meant to give the thing more broad appeal.
