I had to patch my Acekard to get it to work on the 3DS. Other than that no problems

hopefully they'll get totally blocked soon

Alright. Thanks everyone.

So i'll probably just get the 3DS then, along with a few DS games that were on my "Whenever i get around to buying one list" and hope when I get done with those there are some 3DS only games i'm interested in.

Was going to invest some more in some stocks, but i mean screw that, between europe and the job numbers the only investment i'd feel safe about right now is farmland.

May as well enjoy myself.

I still have the feeling that the Euro thing is going to be alright in the long run. Like Roustanmann's been saying, it's not like they can actively boot them out, and an exit would do more damage than staying on board. The job thing is just short-term, too. Trends have been decent

Though having one more for my 3DS friends list is also cool. Buy Mario Tennis Open. Do it!

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I know this answer is basically useless because you already decided but i still post it for the sake of information.

Everything is guaranteed to work fine because the 3ds has a complete set of DS hardware inside. You can even play Japanese, US or EU games on any 3ds because only 3ds games are region locked (which is very dumb)

Like the Wii had all the Gamecube hardware (thats why you can't access USB ports in Gamecube mode or save games on SD cards/internal flash memory etc)  and the WiiU will have complete Wii hardware (thats why WiiU can't play Wii games in 1080p  the hollywood and broadway chips are to slow for this)

As long as you don't try to play games like some GuitarHero games that need the GBA-Slot of the DS/DSLite  for the guitar grip you will be fine 100%.

The 3ds even boots into DS Mode complete with DS firmware and operating system etc.

P.S. off topic
Go buy the humble indie bundle V !

Like most people said, DS games work fine as long as they don't require the GBA port. Only problem is that the DS and 3DS screens are different resolutions, and some games can look a bit fuzzy on the 3DS.

It will play your DS games. It won't play your Game Boy games.

Longrun sure...  longrun is well... the long run though.  May as well get some psychic benefits out of it.

I'll keep Mario Tennis under advisement.

Right now to start off I went with Pokemon White, SNK vs Capcom card battle, Dawn of Heroes, One of the Layton games and Yu-Gi-Oh 2011.

Yeah, all regular DS Games to start with, but at the moment i'm lookin for turnbasedgames that will work well at my work.  Which has huge downtimes.

The game I REALLY wanted was Infinite Space, but it looks like it'll take some effort to get that at  under the usual "6 month atlus markup."

As in, this game is expensive as hell because atlus didn't sell that many of them.

Some don't look as good but that is about it.

Why would you not already own a 3DS?

yeah fully bc never had a problem... I just wish that they will remake some game in 3D tooo... like Super Princess Peach!

Switch!!!

Yeah, the games have to be scaled up as the 3ds screen have a higher resolution. You can play it at the original DS resolution on the 3ds by holding start+select when you select to play the DS game. It will be sharper than the scaled up version, but the picture displayed will be smaller as that resolution doesn't use up the whole 3ds screen.

This is a pretty good write-up about it.

Anyway, the 3ds can play every game that the DSi can play. Only the games that require the gba port are not compatible.

I still play all of my DS games on my Lite/DSi/or XL depending on the situation. I only use my 3ds for 3ds games.

Nintendo now seems to backwards compatibility a generation or two with their hardware that seems go away eventually. You had it with the handhelds:
* GB and GBC working with the Gameboy Advance.
* The DS ran GBA stuff. The DSi dropped GB and GBC support.
* 3DS drops GBA support completely and everything behind it, but should work with the DS stuff, fully pretty much.

They got rid of the GB/GBC BC during the GBA generation when they released the Gameboy Micro which only plays GBA games and not the older GB/GBC games like the GBA and GBA SP.
