"I want MORE POWER for my consoles!!" releases powerful console "WAY too high of A price Sony and Microsoft. Well, nintendo's got the right price but its not powerful enough!"

I absolutley hate this about the gaming media. Every gen they say they want power, and the expect the home console makers to lose 500 dollars for a cheap price. You cant have it both ways. Why do they constantly bring out the same complaints about price/power when we already know the answer why they are so expensive or why the power isn't that high?

There will always be people with different opinions and varying levels of knowledge in every industry. Even what may appear to be the opinion of one media outlet or company can simply be the opinion of one individual, be it a gaming writer or pr rep.

One of the knock on effects of this is people then believing what they have just read or heard is the opinion of many and should be treated as gospel. This is evident regularly on these forums, where posters latch on to one article, or use vague phrases like "across the internet" or "many people do [whatever]" or even treat the info as solid fact.

Just try to wade through the vast sea of information , assess everything with a cynical eye, and form your own opinion. There's bound to be conflicting and ridiculous information being disseminated out there, but as long as you're well informed, all you can do it try to spread the truth and inform people of the facts.

Which brings me to the conclusion that my rambling post has just summed up the purpose of this thread, rather than necessarily answer your question.

Well, it's greedy of them to try to sell consoles at a profit. That's why I love Sony more than Nintendo, always trying to sell their consoles for less, losing money just to make me feel my purchase is justified.

I thought we are suppposed to buy millions of Playstation products so we can bring Sony down with the money they are losing... I'm sure I got an email in the beginning of this gen..

just so we're clear, Because Sony's bank account says -93 Billion, it doesn't mean they have 93 billion to spend...

What's wrong with wanting more for less. It may not be realistic, but we all would prefer to get the most powerful console possible but pay the absolute least possible. I mean nobody would have turned down the PS3 if it launched at $99.99, but because it went for so much people went with alternative.

It's all well and good wanting more for less but people take it too far.
