There will always be people with different opinions and varying levels of knowledge in every industry. Even what may appear to be the opinion of one media outlet or company can simply be the opinion of one individual, be it a gaming writer or pr rep.
One of the knock on effects of this is people then believing what they have just read or heard is the opinion of many and should be treated as gospel. This is evident regularly on these forums, where posters latch on to one article, or use vague phrases like "across the internet" or "many people do [whatever]" or even treat the info as solid fact.
Just try to wade through the vast sea of information , assess everything with a cynical eye, and form your own opinion. There's bound to be conflicting and ridiculous information being disseminated out there, but as long as you're well informed, all you can do it try to spread the truth and inform people of the facts.
Which brings me to the conclusion that my rambling post has just summed up the purpose of this thread, rather than necessarily answer your question.
