Forums - General - When did you realize your parents/guardians weren't Gods?

What was the time in your life where you finally realized your parents could be absolutelt wrong and misguided about things?

As a child, you pretty much have to accept everything they teach you as law. Until the day comes where they tell you that they loved Sonic on the N64 and you don't know what to believe anymore....

Since I could talk which would be like... awhile ago. I can't remember, I was young, though. I always tried to prove my Parents wrong when I was below 10 years old. (And succeeded a few times.) Now I just know that they are wrong sometimes.

Very, very, very soon.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

I never thought of my parents as gods but my impressions of them were extremely overboard.

I still remember one day I was listing the strongest people on the planet and my list went like: 1.) God, 2.) Dad, 3.)Superman. That was the entire list.

I guess my view of my dad changed when I saw him lose his temper over something my brother did. I never liked people with short tempers. I thought it was a sign of stupidity & lack of control, so when I saw my dad react that way, I began to realize he was a flawed individual just like anyone else.

But now, I don't really think of him as better than anyone else. I'm kind of weird because I don't really think of any family members as more important than friends. In fact, in most cases, I care about friends more than family. For me, all I have in common with family is ancestry. But with friends, I get to choose them based of their character. Naturally, I'd like the people with better character more.

I was raised by the wolf god Fenrir. So... uh... its complicated.

As soon as I started doubting my faith.

Suddenly, all the homophobic stuff (don't worry, it's nothing all too serious) that used to make sense became pure ignorance. Not a pleasant realization, but I'm glad it happened. And honestly I still haven't fully recovered.

My parents are great, but not perfect/gods.

When I killed them and they died.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
