Forums - General - When did you realize your parents/guardians weren't Gods?

As soon as I started doubting my faith.

Suddenly, all the homophobic stuff (don't worry, it's nothing all too serious) that used to make sense became pure ignorance. Not a pleasant realization, but I'm glad it happened. And honestly I still haven't fully recovered.

My parents are great, but not perfect/gods.

You were religious at some point?

Anyways, never really put the one parent that was around in such a limelight view.

Wow, did not expect that of you buddy. But that's a topic to discuss another day.

Means my dad left when I was two, so I can't actually remember ever having seen him, so he can go jump off a building as far as I care. And mom is nice and all, but I've never regarded her or anyone else as being "above all".

There must be...

How else did you survive that fight against the fat kid?

Unfortunately for me my parents are just about perfect. Super intelligent, so they never really bullshitted me. Super giving and caring etc. Always doing the right things, always giving me just enough freedom and support while growing up. Bleh.

The crap thing is now I don't have an excuse to be a failure in life

Edit: Oops didnt really answer the question at hand. I guess I still regard them very highly, but quite literally they are the only people i know who live their lives the way they do. So i guess i was just lucky in that my parents actually lived up to the hype they set back when i was 4 - 5 years old.
