Forums - Microsoft - Is The Witcher 2 worth it?

I´m on the fence about this game.I usually like WRPGs (didn´t enjoy Dragon Age, though).

Do you find the story/combat/characters interesting?...does the game often go into boring territory?

Didn't like Dragon Age Origins or DA 2?

I am usually not a big fan of RPGs, the only two I really like wher Mass Effect (one of my favourites overall) and The Witcher 2. I have never played Dragon Age so I cant compare them them. But for what I can say about the witcher is: It has a good story altough the start is pretty slow, a very good combat system imo. The main characters are pretty cool, actually the characters overall are prettty cool. The enviroments are beautiful some of the sidequest very entertaining. If you like RPGs then its definetly worth the purchase.

It's similar to Mass Effect in a sense. Personally i'm not a big fan of WRPGs but I really like both Mass Effect and The Witcher. So I definitely say pick it up.

I didn't like Dragon Age: Origion ether, just thought I'd throw that in there.

Well I have played Dragon Age Origins, and quite liked that though I thought the inventory system was a pain, and the combat a bit rubbish....

Now, I am building a PC soon, and the Witcher 2 is going to be one of the first games I get, and I am quite looking forward to it. So I can't really help with the question beyond advising that the general consensus seems to be positive

@WiiBox

I only played the first Dragon Age, just couldn´t get into it.

@Andrew, Wagram and pezus

Thanks, guys.

The Witcher 2 feels like a very mature game with the story and character progression involved. I really loved it. You should definitely play the first one too! You don't need to, though, as they're rather mutually exclusive from each other.

It really all comes down to preferences. If you have seen trailers and think you'd be into the game, definitely go for it. It excels at everything it sets out to do.

Combat isn't that great, but I liked the characters and story.

The Witcher 2 is amazing...........................that is all.

The games much more than worth it. Though just a warning it is VERY unique. I've never played a game quite like it tbh so you might be surprised at first with how it plays. It is very mature and grown up, not just in story and themes but in mechanics as well.
