yes, it is a failure.

Twisted Metal was never a big seller to begin with anyway so it's not surprising.

PS3 - Twisted Metal  0.34m

PS: - Twisted Metal  1.46m ; - Twisted Metal 2  2.27m; - Twisted Metal 3  1.51m; - Twisted Metal 4  1.26m

PS2: - Twisted Metal: Black  1.25m

PSP: - Twisted Metal: Head On  0.75m

Thats the data avalaible on the site.

Please tell me what's a big seller.

Calm down nothing to get upset over.

Not really the series only sold pretty decent when it was on the PS1.

The reason the game didn't do as well is because the campaign was rushed. Previous TM campaigns weren't just about car combat, they were also about unique characters and the stories that drove them. But for this new installment, they only have you play as 3 characters, so the vehicles are the main focus, not the people driving them. Gameplay is still really fun. Well, except for the racing segments (shudder).

Amazing how you've deduced my emotions from that post. Anyway, your post wasn't relevant at all. Just thought I'd point that out.

Sony did all they can to kill it. No advertising, no worldwide release date so for the few people outside US who did know about it Sony killed the buzz of a new release, with no buzz is little word of mouth which a no advertising game needs. The same people who also had their buzz killed also got a censored version which for this sort of game raises the question of 'why even bother to release it'. Then they slapped an online pass on it so anyone who was curious and on the edge about buying and wanted to rent before parting with cash got denied, so even potential customers got given the middle finger.

From what I hear, the online is nearly unplayable. Why would Sony advertise a game with broken online? That would be a huge waste of money since consumers would still not have bought the game.

Actually, since I've bought it I've played online a lot. It isn't as bad as people are saying, the game doesn't have big connectivity issues anymore. Online mode is actually very funny, I'm enjoying it a lot (you got a lot of chaos and destruction, but you need a good strategy to use specials, select weapons and search for health).

I Played it a few weeks ago at my friends and local multiplayer is really fun, hopefully word of mouth can make this game get up to 1 million, if only for PS3 to get ahead of X-box with million sellers. :p

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

Both Sony & EAT SLEEP PLAY failed Twisted Metal.

Why?

Sony, and perhaps the developer, should have treated this game like it should have been treated.....akin to how seemingly Nintendo treats Mario. Both the single player and the multiplayer were shortsighted, and it just seems the proper care that should be given to an old icon like Twisted Metal wasn't given. For a game like this, ALL THE STOPS should have been pulled.....they weren't.
