Forums - Microsoft - Update: Halo Truck Leads Forza Horizon December IGN Car Pack

Polygon 60/100

Horizon's accessibility gives way to a lack of foresight. Its open world feels empty, its economic model is questionable, and its armada of cars are powerless against arbitrary AI escalation. Forza Horizon has more flash than its predecessors, but it's hollow by comparison.

Who the hell is Polygon?

LOL.

Every Burnout and NFS game has arbitrary AI escalation.

A great departure from the core Forza Motorsport titles. If you're blindly walking into the game without knowing that it's less sim-driven and far more of a fun arcade racer with many of Forza's trademark trappings--rewinds, color-coded tracking, and customization--you're likely in for a rude awakening. It's got its bumpy patches, but if you're interested in playing a long, deep, and rewarding racer, Forza Horizon is a game worth putting in the mileage on.

Ahh your scouring metacritic. That makes sense.

Gamesradar awarded Horizon 4/5. while this is mathmatically 80/100 it as GR have said before about their scores and meta not reflective. A score out of 5 or 100 require 2 different results at review time.

So bassically Games Radar awarded it 4/5.

I've mixed together a lot of negativity with my praise in this review, but I do want to come back to the notion that there's nothing really like Forza Horizon out there right now, as the wide-open world to explore and solid handling of the Forza franchise come together beautifully. Yes, Playground and Turn 10 had to compromise on what feels like a rather hefty list of features and selling points in order to make Horizon a reality on Xbox 360, but the relatively few new things this game includes add up to a massive impact on how it's played and enjoyed. Forza Horizon is not ideal for all fans of the Forza series, but it also will be able to pull in fans of other racing game franchises that couldn't deliver serious racing in a large environment.

Meta is on 85, great score! I admit I was expecting it to be in the 90's, but who cares.

I did a poll last week. MOst expected 70's and 80's. Arcadde racers dont really reach the 90's often.  I dont know why. I loved Hot Pursuit more than many 90 meta games.

I genuinely believe a game can recieve 100/100 despite genre or type. But thats just me.
