Forza Horizon Demo Drops October 9th

Microsoft today announced that the demo for Forza Horizon will be available for download on Xbox Live this October 9th.  As an additional bonus, gamers who download the Forza Horizon demo will also unlock the 2013 SRT Viper GTS which was designed to highlight “Forza Horizon’s ‘gone-gold’ status” 

In addition to the announcement, Turn 10 and Playground Games have dropped an all new launch trailer for the upcoming addition to the Forza franchise.  According to the presser:

In addition, the launch trailer also confirms the upcoming release of the “Forza Horizon” demo, which will be available to download on Xbox LIVE starting October 9. The “Forza Horizon” demo has been designed to whet fans’ appetite for open world automotive action that will be the centrepiece of the game. In the demo, players will get a chance to experience the Colorado of “Forza Horizon”, driving a number of different cars across a variety of different event types – from Horizon Festival events taking place in the dusty, dirt roads of the upper hills – to a climactic street race that find players winding up, around, and over the fictional Finley Dam.

Fans of the racing series will be able to sample it in demo form from Tuesday, October 9, ahead of the Forza Horizon release date on October 23, 2012.
Players who download the demo and then purchase and play the full game online will receive an exclusive 2013 SRT Viper GTS to drive in-game.

Microsoft is packaging a 'VIP membership programme' with the Forza Horizon Limited Collector's Edition, which will offer exclusive content including cars, VIP Rivals Mode events, in-game gifts and an expanded storefront.

A Forza Horizon DLC Season Pass was detailed last week.

With the release of Forza Horizon just a few weeks away on October 23rd, Microsoft, Playground Games, and Turn 10 have announced an array of events scheduled to take place to celebrate the launch of the game.

EscapeTheGrid

The action begins with #EscapeTheGrid, a full throttled four day road trip starting on October 23rd, with 10 supercars competing in a series of challenges from France to the UK. The convoy will begin their journey at the Paris Forza Horizon Gymkhana competition, and end at Top Gear Live event in Birmingham on October 26th, where the winning car will be announced and six of the vehicles will be put on display in the supercar gallery.

Furthermore, there will be daily competitions on Xbox.com and @XboxUK to win prizes, and fans can submit questions to the Playground Games development team, as well as interact with and follow the cars by using #EscapeTheGrid hashtag on Twitter. Forza Horizon Festival

Bringing the game’s setting to life, the Forza Horizon Festival takes car lovers and music fans on the ultimate virtual road trip. At various locations around the UK (Manchester, London, Newcastle and Birmingham), branded billboards with QR codes will give fans the opportunity to be in with the chance of winning free music downloads and tickets to the Forza Horizon Festival – an exclusive gig at London’s Fabric nightclub, featuring DJ Fresh, Ms. Dynamite, and Skepta on October 25th– the eve of the game’s UK launch.

For those who miss out on winning tickets to the Festival, all of the ear-thumping action will be hosted exclusively on Last.fm at http://originals.last.fm and via the Last.fm app on Xbox LIVE immediately following the gig.

Top Gear Live

Car lovers and show fans missing Clarkson, Hammond, May and The Stig, can also get behind of wheel of Forza Horizon at Top Gear Live, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from October 25th - 28th. Featuring a combined indoor track and arena, plus an exhibition, a cavalcade of the world’s great supercars will be on show, including a 50 years of James Bond tribute featuring Aston Martins.
