Forums - Gaming - Once again, no Final Fantasy VII remake in development

Okay, it's 3:38pm Pacific USA time...

Are they making a FF7 remake yet? Has someone asked them since 3:30pm?

UPDATES, PEOPLE!

I emailed them twice this morning & asked if they had any intentions on making a FFVII remake. They strongly & clearly affirmed that they had NO intentions on making a FFVII remake. They seemed a little ticked off in their second response. They even threatened to block me if I asked again.

I'll email them again in a few hours just in something changes.

Publishing rights don't expire unless specifically agreed upon......and developers had considerably less power & authority in the 80's and 90's than they do today.

Sony does Publishing in almost all media circles for a living....and I can GUARANTEE you Sony's NOT just going to give back any publishing rights from the 90's simply because Squeenix or you, or me, or anyone else asks nicely.

This is business, and business was alot more harsh back then.

People want it. Its the most wanted JRPG there is.

No brainer. SE hate money.

I blame the PS3 tech demo for these dreams that will never come true

That's actually the point of what I'm trying to explain here.....

Sqeenix knows an FF7 remake is what almost everyone wants.....it would sell an instant 10 million units on any system and would probably inspire midnight release lines.

Everyone knows this, but there's little Sqeenix can do about it, because while they could make this "destined to be ULTRA-EXPENSIVE game", Sqeenix can't release FF7 anywhere except Japan and Asian markets without giving Sony their cut......and again, this game would cost to much to make to be restricted to only 1 region.

If you know anything about Sony, it's that they take all of their media catalogues VERY VERY seriously.

For a FF7 remake to happen, it would take EXTREME negotiation.

Sony has American and European region publishing rights to Final Fantasy 7.

I'm pretty sure those have long since expired. That was like 15 years ago, lol.

Memo to Square-Enix just give FF6 + 7 to the same team that did the DS Final Fantasy remakes and remake them for the 3DS with iOS ports later for a reasonable cost.

Keep the overhead/super deformed style and stay away from the "dead eyes" look of Advent Children. Just update the graphics so they're a little more modernized.

that isn't what people want and would be an even bigger waste of time and money

people are begging for a full remake of the game with current gen tech, that would cost too much and take way too much time to do

In my opinion, I would not want a remake until Square Enix gets it act together. I feel like since the bought Eidos they are struggling between ''are we a Western or a Japanese company.'' I love Final Fantasy games, I enjoyed FFXIII-2 not as much as I would of liked too, but still I did. It would be exciting to see FFVII remake but until FFVersus or FFXV is released and the gaming community and fans alike enjoy these games, I would say no, don't touch.

Man, Square really messed up showing that tech demo SIX years ago lol

UPDATE: Just checked with Square again. They say they're not working on a FF7 remake, but they're probably lying. I'll keep asking, daily.
