I do wonder what capcom's obsession with lost planet is. They have been poured a lot of money into it, and still returns were rather low.

The statement is not wrong. There is no Monster Hunter for VITA as far as we know right now.
You can't just assume a game is in developement until the developer says otherwise. With that theory, any third party game can be on any platform because there just hasn't been an announcement.
A game is not in developement until a developer says it is. If not, I could say DQXI or FF XV is in development for VITA since we haven't heard one way or the other. SE never said no DQXI or FF XV for VITA.

As for the "capcom wants to kill the Vita" nonsense, point at SONY instead. They are the ones that have/are killing it.

Your qualifier proves my point.
The way it was presented implies MH4 was announced as never being made.
Sure, there is no mh4 for vita as far as we know, but saying for certain either way isn't true.

The game is aimed for the Japanese audience and the 3DS and PS3 are the most active userbases in Japan (assuming the PSP continues to decline).
I don't see it being that unusual.
