I'm about to order components from there now, I just made a thread on it.

Ahh I thought about it, and for now, considering I'll also have to shell out for PSU, graphics card & gear needed to assemble the PC, I'll end up spending nearer to the £600 mark, I just don't think it's worth it atm for me, although I got 4 months off Uni, so will likely end up working alot - might get it later in the summer. Good luck with your build

Thanks, the payment went through this morning.

I honestly think you should get the AMD, especially if you're not going to be playing intensive games, you'll be saving yourself £50 on the processor and about £30 on the future proof 1155 motherboard, plus the performance difference isn't that big. In the build I just ordered, I got one of the lower end motherboards, by the time you upgrade your CPU, the motherboard will probably need an upgrade as well. If you cut corners and go with AMD, you'll definitely be able to keep costs at about £450, it would have been cheaper if hard drive prices hadn't rocketed.

Here's are some comparison charts between the main AMD and Intel processor you'll probably be getting.

Eh £70, I'll shell the difference out when I do buy the rig I think, Intel just seems to win it overall

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Around the Network

Also: What PSU, graphics card, hard drive and disk drive should I go for ultimately, I'll just be googling some now.

A 500w PSU should do your system nicely, or you could go with a 650w for future proofing. Make sure the PSU is from a trusted brand, there are many PSU's which are extremely cheap but aren't very efficient, could easily break and could damage your other components with power surges. You should be aiming to spend at least £50 for a decent PSU.

Just found this one, Corsair are one of the most trusted brands, you could probably upgrade your rig in the future and keep this PSU and this is an absolute bargain.

If you're playing at 1080p then you want a mid-range GPU, especially for your needs as you won't be playing Crysis 2 or Battlefield 3, mid-range GPU's offer great performance for the money, before prices start becoming a little bit rediculous.

I probably said this in an earlier post, but the ATI 6770 / Nvidia 550ti will be perfect for your needs and will be able to play future starcraft games (if there are any).

Hard drives are expensive at the moment, I heard it was because of floods in Taiwan, but hard drive prices tripled last year and they've only come down a little bit. You should probably get an SSD to install your OS on and you should salvage any hard drive you can find to store anything else on. In a year or so when the prices come down, get yourself a decent 1TB drive.

It doesn't matter what disc drive you buy, they're fairly cheap, just make sure you get one from a reliable brand.

Cheers brendude,

A friend of mine had suggested I visit the overclockers website as apparently it's cheaper than anything on the net in terms of PC parts. Anyway, I saw a few bundles and was wondering whether they're worth the hassle in your opinion;
