Uh... why do so many people like this show. It is horrible in my opinion.

I guess you're too young :p, many of the people have had similar childhood experiences and can relate to that, also the innuendos, humour and just general comedy gold has a mass family appeal (I know I watched it with my parents), probably the only show other than Friends that actually did that for me, not like I can watch Game of Thrones with them, they'll just think I am a massive pervert.

I think SpongeBob is pretty comedical. More "mature" people also like that show. My 22 year old Cousin loves it and my Dad thinks it can be quite funny, too.

Can't say I enjoyed this show. I tried to like it, but I couldn't get into it.

Was a great show! One of my favs growing up. I still think of Bryan Cranston as Hal when I'm watching Breaking Bad.

You do? He's completely morphed into Heisenberg/Walter for me

Same here. I can't see any part of Hal in his performance of Walter White. Bryan Cranston just completely owns any role he's in. Neither Malcolm in the Middle nor Breaking Bad would have been as good as they were without him.

Oh no don't get me wrong, he's amazing in Breaking Bad and nothing like Hal...I just mean I'm nostalgic of Malcolm in the Middle and loved Cranston as Hal. And whenever I think of Bryan Cranson I picture Hal not Heisenberg.

You are right about that. I'm 22 and I think SpongeBob is amazing. I still watch it to this day if it's on. However, the show is very much geared towards children whereas Malcolm in the Middle definitely contains more "adult" material that is really not suitable for a large portion of the SpongeBob audience. I'm assuming a lot of the humor wouldn't be fully understood by a lot of the younger SpongeBob audience. So while both have mass family appeal they are, at the same time, tailored for different age groups.

I'm pretty sure SpongeBob has Mature hints in it. Have you not noticed?

I really like the show but won't get the box sets. I buy a lot of box sets and watch them once then never open them again. Since I've seen every episode multiple times I would never watch them.

No US release makes me sad. :( Now I have to go pout.

Vast differences between the two shows in terms of content, trust me. I never really liked spongebob enough to watch it daily, whereas this.. It's just something everyone who was growing up in the 90s can relate to really.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Spongebob is fine, but vastly overrated at the same time. The first season was great and maybe even the second, but so many episodes just don't have any meaningful story to tell and the other half have the exact same plot. Also there is a clear lack of different/returning characters and ideas. They almost completely dropped the comedy aspect and instead exchanged it with idiocy.
Some mature content can be found, but Malcom in the Middle provides far more.

In other words a comic series that I think is far better and also has lots of mature content are the Fairly OddParents.

Fairly OddParents is quite hilarious too, I'll give you that.
