Just because they'll continue to support HD DVD doesn't mean they won't start supporting Blu-Ray as well. This only rules out them going exclusive to Blu-Ray, and even then it only rules it out for the time being.

Its only a matter of time, if anyone thinks they are really in D DVD's court 100% then they need a kick to the side of the head because Uni and Paramount are most likely working our arrangements with their lawyers to find a way to get on BD.....Its too bad thre are suckers who care more about the companies that make teh products than th eproducts themeselves and will keep pouring money into an inevitable blackhole.
i think this will help it a little bit but in the end blu-ray will win
Classic dammage control
Paramount is under a deal, so they can't chose what they really want to do.
They will just follow their deal : "we stay HD DVD exclusive"
As soon as they will be able to swithc, they will ... SWITCH !
End of the story

how long is their deal?
plus what if microsoft/toshiba extend it
I suspect that several studios will be careful not to alienate people who bought into HD-DVD because (for the next little while) a noticeable percentage of Blu-Ray adopters will have been former HD-DVD owners; Paramount doesn't want them to sulk and (potentially) boycott or badmouth their products because they decided to support Blu-Ray.
I honestly think that HDDVD will hold on as long as possible, which is when Blu/HDDVD combo players come out. Then both formats win. Overall they will both lose due to the fact that HD/Blu really isnt much better than DVD.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I think this will still have a negative impract on Blu-Ray sales , Blu-Ray has effectivley one however it isn't the official victor , this move by paramount sends mixed messages to the consumer "why continue to support a format that lost?"
