Horrible deal.
$360 for 2 years of Xbox Live Gold + $100 for a console with Kinect > $120 for 2 years of Xbox Live Gold + $200 for a console with Kinect.
Pixel Art can be fun.

Oh they are in for a shock when they see those cancelation fees. |
I really hope your joking. People will obviously be informed how this deal works before they decide to buy the console.
edit**People really need to read my first post before coming to a conclusion, but of course they wont because they like to ignore facts or simply don't know how to do simple math. **

the console is new and not used...

I'm not missing the point, you're making a bad analogy.
Loan offers vary greatly. They are not one in the same. Some are bad and some are good. Either way, they offer you a way to purchase large ticket items that virtually NO ONE can buy without saving for an obscene number of years.... even a lifetime for many.
Credit Cards help you obtain the above by increasing your credit rating as well as allow you to have a safety net or simply not carry easily lost/stolen cash. Here they also are inherently good products. Its just stupid people who abuse them.
However, a $200 console is something just about anyone could save up a few months for and obtain. Or easily put on a credit card and pay off in a reasonable amount of time and pay less in interest than the $80 they are overpaying here.
This deal is closer to US cellular business and their contracts. Verizon and others offer you discounted or free phone if you sign a two year contract. However, the big difference is also the reason why they are a good deal for the consume. They don't charge you more for signing a contract. You could either pay full price for the phone and have no contract OR you can get the discount and sign a contract. The monthly price for the service is unaffected.
Here Microsoft is taking the discount of the console and adding that and then some into the service price. So not only are they locking in a two year customer to their service (perfectly fine), they are also charging the person more for that package overall. That is where the deal becomes bad. That is not equal to a finance charge as its not tied to the console but to the service.

You have too much faith in the human race sir, and I did read it properly.
If this is successful the next generation could be very interesting...
Next PS4 / Next box only $20 a month (3 year contract)
Only $10 a month if you play the console with ads!

For the record, you don't have to get a contract. Many stores sell the Xbox 360.
But if you don't want to pay the lump sum. You can give them $99 and a measly $15 a month for two years. Its just an option.
I'd gladly take advantage of this if offered with future consoles. It would also boost console sales significantly if made available to the masses through major retailers.

I'll be sure to use the: "It's an option, no one's making you buy it. I wouldn't buy it, but someone else will. No problem here." thing in the future. Whether this is a deal or not is apparently not up for discussion according to some. Anyway, looking at this deal directly, a console that's pushing Live and with only 4gb of storage? I don't have an Xbox. I wouldn't get this.

That's where the deal may be worth it.
With a NEW console and a monthly price that would also likely add services beyond what's currently offered as expected with the new consoles. Additionally the new console is important as at this point the gen is over and I'd only consider this if it was something new and exciting.
Lol at the MS haters posting this from their $400 phones that they paid $99 for and signed a 2 year agreement.
