wonder what his honest comments would have been on the 3ds at this point after launch

That's the thing. He went on to say in the same interview that the 3DS had the same problem at launch. Selective quoting is awesome though.

"When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn't have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn't have Mario Kart 7, we didn't have Kid Icarus: Uprising,"

"We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren't able to deliver them at that time. We were kind of hoping that people would, nevertheless, buy into the product, find 3DS hardware promising, but looking back we have to say we realise the key software was missing when we launched the hardware."

Miyamoto says it as it is!

Wrong, Squareenix is the type of company who will go and try to expand into other regions even if it is a risk, if what your comment said was true, than the GCN wouldnt of had a FF game but guess what, it did.

Look at what happened to the PSP for example, the first FF game came out 3 years after the release of the PSP and after that a couple of more came out. I wouldnt be surprised if they announce a official release date of a FF game at this year's E3 (and no I dont mean FFX HD/remake).

Square Enix is like every other company, yes. But the do not put out SW when it is a stupid idea. Obviously their PSP Plan worked. I'm pretty sure the Vita is doing worse than PSP?

That still doesnt mean they wont release a game on the Vita ever. How would you know if its a stupid idea, do you work for Squareenix o.O? You dont even know how many people said it was a stupid idea to release a FF game on the GCN but it was a good thing because it brought new fans to the series and actually brought forth a new set of sequels/ports.

The same thing happened with the GBA, NDS and the PSP and I'm pretty sure it will happen to the Vita especially considering the fact their portable titles are more popular than the console titles they've been making in the past few years.

And that is what I'm saying. SE takes risks, like every other company, but they aren't stupid. Well... DQX may say otherwise...

Yep, he didnt really bash it, infact if anyone is to blame mostly its the developers who fail to act on making software for the system, the same can be said for the 3DS when it was first released, all those rumored cancellations and backing out is unnecessary.

I'm also waiting for the developer who will step up to make and release games on the Vita *_*!

I'm hoping for Squareenix to take the mantle though just like they did with the PSP but would love to be surprised by any other company though, hoping to be shocked at E3 in a good way xD!

Square Enix is one of those compaies that goes where the sales are. In that case, it won't happen.

riiiiiiiiiiiiight, cause some of the best games they released this gen werent on psp..... crisis core, dissidia, ff type-0, birth by sleep, lord of arcana. its just too bad some of those arent available digitaly.

they are already supporting the vita with lord of apocalypse, it's only a matter of time till we see more titles, hopefully better ones than army corps of hell.

Oh God! XD That game looks so bad! I wish I never saw it.

The vita is a badly marketed product. Any marketeer can tell you that. There is no diferenciantion in it, ie, it doesnt offer anything unique.

Because of that, its also positioned in direct competition with its predecessor the PSP, wich offers the same kind of experiences at a reduced price.

Now now Ninpie, I said they take risks on the subject we are talking about, what you said was the fact that they make stupid decisions (i.e. FFXI, FFXIV, and DQX like you said, I mean seriously why couldnt they just make a FFOnline or DQOnline and not make the online game part of the main franchise line ~.~) which make no sense, these arent risks, these are 100% failure attempts XD.

Wait... I said that? Well I didn't mean those as good risks if I did. Those are some of the worst decisions ever!

(Btw, I agree with you on the DQ and FF thing.)

It's doing fine in Japan, it's in the west that its struggling.

How come both Vita and 3DS is struggling in the west? 3DS is doing fairly well I guess, but it really should be doing a whole lot better... Is it that missing 2nd analog circle/stick? ;P

Cheap Smartphone games should be the main reason. It wasn't nearly as widespread during the DS/PSP generation as it is now.

That isn't the whole reason. 3DS and Vita just don't seem to have much appeal in the West. Other than the Mario Games. Japan has many more games than the West does so it is doing better over there. USA isn't bad but Europe is horrible. (Despite it being near US's sales.) It should pick up this Holiday, a lot, though.

Yeah, but why doesn't it appeal to the western market?? except that there's no games out yet (except, like, 4 AWSEOME games)?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Because 4 awesome games is not enough. No where near.
