So, there has been an uproar regarding Black Ops 2 on forums like this.  People wanting Call of Duty to die off.  One group feels that Call of Duty doesn't do anything new, and others feel that Black Ops 2 has jumped the shark.  You also had various complaints, involving things such as Black Ops 2 having horses.

I have to wonder here, if Call of Duty is going to break sales records, despite all the criticisms, is it possible the tastes and interest, and what the rest of the world thinks, is different than what people on forums like this post?  In short, do you feel out of synch with what the rest of the world things regarding your gaming interests?

It seems that way. Shooters and WRPG's take way more criticism than they deserve, while lots of average (imo) games from Japan are celebrated.

And you will see in forums people complaining about favorite titles on the forum not getting as much sales they thought it should.  What I see sometimes happen is that, when expectations aren't met, then there is a switching into a mode where the masses are framed as stupid for not getting it.

Even now, I remember reading someone say that Black Ops and Modern Warfare costs sales of more core games.  It is like some people want there to be an authoritarian government make things they way they want, ban some things, and force to get exposed to preferred titles.  Then, the masses apparently will see.

Have since... well always.

SRPGs are my favorite genre afterall... and RPGs just like them like fallout.

It's why I'm a big fan of the recent Kickstarter move.

Will be great for reviving old genres... if it keeps up.

I don't begrudge anyone for liking what they like however.  Cause well, people should like what they like.  Who cares if Black Ops breaks all kinds of sales records, good for them and the people who enjoy playing said game.

I have never quite understood the hate for COD games. Though I don't play the multi player portion I rent the new game each year to play the single player. In my opinion the single player part of the COD games, though unoriginal, is usually pretty entertaining. It's like watching one of those summer blockbuster movies. Mindless fun. I really liked Black Ops and I would love to pay the sequel as well. I would actually buy each COD game, instead of renting it, if they offered a downloadable single player only version for $20 each year.

But in answer to your question, yes I do. The games that seem to sell the best primarily focused on online multiplayer death match. I can never really get into that, this is the main reason why I hated BF3. BF3 had one of the most annoying single player campaigns I have ever tried and I shut it off after two hours. Lets put it this way, Duke Nukem Forever had a more entertain campaign to me.

But give me an entertaining co-op campaign and I'll be hooked as well, a la 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

No not ever. I like all kinds of games, COD included.

I never speak negatively about Call of Duty, but on the other hand, I also have absolutely zero interest in playing it. Doesn't appeal to me at all. The only FPS games I've ever been able to tolerate were Halo for PC and Goldeneye for N64.

Oh, I don't think. I KNOW. While a lot of us go crazy over tech specs, graphics, cinematics, refined gameplay, etc., a lot of peope are more than satisfied with Wii sports, Just Dance, etc. I remember going from Resident Evil 4 to Gears of War back in 2007. People in my house saw absolutely no difference in quality.

  Technical aspect aside, we can see the quality in a game like Ico, Metroid, Heavy Rain, or Mass Effect. There a lot of peole that would play these games for five minutes, get bored, and call them crap. These same people would get obssessed with Madden, Call of Duty, or WWE Smackdown. We need to accept that we are the minority. Catering to us will garner critical praise but it's financial suicide. We are more loyal than casual fans so we can be counted on in the long run while casuals are a bit more unpredictable.  That's the only reason companies still cater to us.  If there were a way to get casuals to buy new consoles over and over again without having to beef up the specs, or if they would buy a series like Angry Birds or Rock Band without ever getting tired of it, traditional gaming as we know it would be niche.

I seem to be the only person on here who loves Kororinpa, so yes.
