Forums - Sony - God of War multiplayer may not "move the needle on sales" says Pachter

I would love to see co-op in God of War. Or even a four player survival mode where they just send so many enemies at you it looks like dynasty warrior. They could do some cool things with a multi player aspect if they get creative.

Maybe even add some other Greek mythology heroes like Theseus, Bellerophon and Perseus.

Kratos has already killed them. Ultimately, if you can think of a Greek figure, Kratos has probably killed them

From the GoW wiki, apparently Bellerophon was an argonaught, and they were all dead by the time Kratos found them apart from 1, who Kratos killed, and Jason was actually killed by some other monster (who Kratos probably then killed)

I feel not playing as Kratos makes everything worse, and if I have learnt anything from the GoW games, nothing can mess with Kratos

I agree, I don't think multiplayer will make this GoW sell any better than the others. In fact, I don't think this one will sell as well as GoW3.

Food for thought: Shove an apple in your brain

True, but since this is a prequal there would be no problem having them fight alongside Kratos. Plus I would rather them throw in other Greek heroes instead of Kratos clones to fight along side him in co-op. But then again I doubt they will do this.

I would like to wish though, there are not enough good co-op games that aren't FPS games.

God of War: Asencion will sell great anyway, no matter if there is Multiplayer or not.
You know why?
Because it´s God of War. And not just that it will boost all other God of War games as well.

IF Patcher didn't say this, then I might have agreed. However, the guy seems like a loon and doesn't seem to know what the hell he is talking about!!!

Racing games! Except all you do then is start crashing into each other...

LBP! Except all you do then is try to slap people of cliffs....

So... fair point, but I am still not convinced that it would really work, something more like Dynasty Warriors would be better for that (which does have co-op, but is a little bit rubbish)

How can Patcher already claim the multplayer won't increase sales when it's still being figured out a no-one knows how great it'll be by the time the game comes out. If it's brilliant (99% sure it will be) then of course it will help sales because people will recommend the game to their friends to play online together, and those friends will recommend the game to their other friends and so on and so forth.

Even without the multiplayer this game will be a 5m+ seller like GOW3 will be, I think MP will be the thing that pushes God of War: Ascension over 6m. If GOW3 can reach 4.5m in 2 years with no MP, no bundling and no advertising, just imagine how much it can sell with a great MP mode, bundling and good advertisement. If Sony made an effort this could be a 7 million + seller, hopefully the PS4 doesn't release too soon as it could damage GOW:A's legs.

I hate it I hate it I hate it when people claim this with games that had recieved bundling and substantial advertisement

Looky here and they started doing this over a month before the game came out

I watch very little tv and i still remember seeing this ad numerous times.

God of War 3 could eventually reach close to 5mil, that in itself is an achievment even with its advertisements and a little holiday bundling. There is no need to try to overexaggerate the "obstacles it had to overcome" to get to its sales. As for the new god of war, its lifelong sales will heavily depend on the quality of the game, and how long the ps3 stays relevent in the United States after next gen, god of wars biggest market.

patcher knows everything. *rolls eyes*

This is excellent news!
