"Last year, Xbox 360 sales beat PS3 globally, despite its relative weakness outside the US."

So, does this research prove XBOX360 was the best selling console worldwide in 2011?

shipped =| sold

Haven't we already had this discussion?

So they believe Xbox will ship 13.8 million units in 2012? I dont believe so. I expect 11 million. Over 13 million would be crazy good.

If Xbox really shipped 13.8 mill and PS3 13 million I think we shouldnt be talking about a decline (even if it techinaclly is, and even if Wii/Wii U sells a couple of million less in 2012 than 2011) since those would be fabulous sales such late in a console generation.

Wait, you mean the console with the MOST (and BEST) games is the most played?!?

SHOCKING! lol

No, seriously. There is absolutely no secret that the PS3 is the hardcore gamers' console. Everyone knows this, including the competition which is why Nintendo AND Microsoft have started focusing on "casual" gaming experiences.

All that said, I'm happy with my PS3, whatsoever.

Article needs a correction though, which states that more 360 units being sold globally than the PS3. It's not.

Much of this doesn't sound right. Survey probably done by people that know little about industry, with limited number of people surveyed.

I don't know the report is right but it seems professional.

Who wants to buy it???

$6,999

I think it's fairly logical that the most expensive console has the highest amount of general use. Afterall the more casual consumer would tend to go for the cheapest console, in general anyway.

I think the real thing to take from this is that only 44% of PS3 / 40% of 360 users use their console once a week. I think you get an idea of how different what a lot of our 'idea' of a consumer is to the actual reality when you think the majority of people are content playing their console fortnightly, or even less often. It's so easy to think every consumer knows what publishers publisher what and who developes what, and own the bazillion games we all do lol.

not surprising. looks like there's still some doubt as to who won last yr. doesn't matter withouht hard data, or an inside man.

no surprise here the 360 is just an overgrown netflix player :p
